I have a browning 16 gauge. serial number is A8999. was wondering what info you can provide

The "A" prefix serial number on your 16 gauge denotes "American made Browning patent" by the Remington Arms Company. Your shotgun was made between years 1940-1953. The 4 digit number hints to early manufacture dating to 1940-41.

I have a Remington 223REM sportsman 78 serial # C6240048 that I would like to know the date of manufacture. Thanks Wayne

The barrel was made in 1982 according to the number you have given which is the closest year to the first year that the model 78 was manufactured 1984 but the C prefix could also be for the month of April
So unless you put all the letters preceeding the number string a date would be a guess
Take a look at website
Remington society.com/rsa/questions/barrelcodes on how to read a Remington serial number

Remington 870 shotgun, serial number 12960V,when was it made

Hi Mike,

I see this is out dated to April 2014. SO. Here goes. I will provide you with a link supported by Remington Society. Here you will find a conversion and listing chart for your interests. Defer to the society on line to enhance your education within Remington. Here is the link. Remington Dates of Manufacture .

It appears you will need more Alphabetic Characters to satisfy the date and year of the manufacture of the weapon. One must disassemble and look for stamped characters. Here is a link for that concern. Remington Serial Number Lookup . The next link will demonstrate where to find the code and its definitions. http://www.remingtonsociety.com/questions/BarrelCodes.jpg .

The final piece of information would be the Remington Arms direct link to contact. With some patience your questions will find what you are searching? See Support. Here is that link. Company History
