Question about Samsung SyncMaster 245BW Monitor

1 Answer

Yellow and blue lines on 245BW

I have yellow and blue horizontal static lines across my screen. It doesn't happen when I first turn it on but when I open some windows. Especially anything with a photo on it. I've had the problem where the monitor will flash off and on as well. I'm using a Mac Pro desktop. That shouldn't matter. I took it back to the place where I purchased it and it worked fine when they plugged it in. I told them it didn't happen right away and never consistently. I have it set on the default resolution which I believe is the highest available. Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. I thought maybe it was the dvi cable supplied with the monitor so i switched it with my old one and problem remains. Seems to be upredictable.

I have the same problem. I have 2 of these montiors and one is doing it 6 times out of 10. The funny thing, it only happens from a cold boot up, not when it's been running a while. I changed DVI cables, no dice; and now changing the graphics card to see if that fixes it. I think it's the monitor. But an easy way to temporarly solve the problem is if you turn the monitor off then on again. This seems to bring back the image to normal. It won't happen again until I leave the PC off for a night then turn it on the next morning. They come back but not through the bios. Only once I get into the OS. Any suggestions? I'm going to call Samsung.

Well, my monitor is going back to samsung for a replacement unit. I plugged in my monitor in a bunch of other PCs and it's doing the same thing regarless of the PC or graphics card I use. Now I know it's the monitor. Getting it RMA'd with Samsung. Only had it for 18 days. Hope they send me a new one and not a refurb.

Horizontal blue lines with a slight blue wash in the screen

Its because of Over Voltage of Screen (G2) to Blue CRT.
Take off front lower cover (speaker grill) and unscrew board. There you will need to find Focus Block mounted having 6 control knobs. 3 knobs are for Focus control and 3 are for Screen volts control. Find Blue Screen control knob and turn is Counter Click Wise slightly until bluish shade disappear on screen including few blue horizontal lines.
If you select AV input to adjust that will be fine as you do not need to wait for dark-scene.

you can try this ,
check the monitor on the different wall outlet/ socket or check with different computer wheather it gives the same issue .. third option is check with both DVI and VGA ports differnetly.. please check wheather you are getting lines on the bios screen when u start the system because if you r getting lines on the BIOS screen (f1) then there is a issue with the monitor else issue with the video card ................try this ,if possible revert for the same issue

How to fix horisontal lines on display ( see the picture)? They stronger when system is restarted and then fading but never disappearing. They always stay the same.

horizontal lines can be caused by either a faulty grapchics card or a faulty monitor. try adjusting the screen refresh rate. if you are using a windows xp system goto

start>control panel>display>settings>advanced>monitor

then adjust the screen refresh rate and see if the horizontal lines disappear. if not, then you probably have a faulty graphics card or monitor.

Blue horizontal and vertical lines

We have many problems with loose or poorly seated cables and connectors on these units. Pull the back and reseat all the internal cables, especially the LVDS cable to the LCD control bd. If this does not correct the problem the main cause is a bad LCD control bd. or possible a defective main bd.

Syncmaster 245B Monitor Shivering horizontal lines

Which type of video connector are you using? VGA or DVI?

If you are using VGA, the horizontal line could be due to interference, like from an electric motor (fan) near the video cable.

Other thing to try is to change the refresh rate. In Windows XP: Control panel --> Display Properties --> Settings tab --> Advanced button --> Monitor tab --> Screen refresh rate. The default ot 60Hz for LCD monitors. Bump it up to 75Hz. That could give a clue to the problem or maybe even fix it.
