Oil dipstick broke and fell into tube. How do I remove it from the tube?

tubes are either held in place with a retaining bolt or are just pressed in the block
use a pair of multi-grips and a hammer to knock it out of the block or remove the retainer bolt

How to service the transaxle on my riding mower

There are a number of differing axle types on different models of mowers. The better ones have drain plugs on the underside at the lowest point, and accessable filler and oil level plugs topside. Some have little plastic reservoirs on the top which should be full of oil to a marker. To remove the oil from a K46 which has no drain and is very difficult to access, I took a 5mm plastic tube [3/16"] and put a 2mm wire thru it so I could bend it to shape and thread it into the oil port which was on the far side of the reservoir. Clearly some designers know nothing of the difficulties suffered by service personell. Make sure the tube and wire are right to the bottom of the oil chamber. Then hold the tube in and remove the wire. It is a good idea to cut the end of the tube to a slope to stop it sealing on the bottom. Take a large jar, preferrably plastic but which you can see into. Place the plastic tube well into the jar. Take a vacuum cleaner and hold the inlet close to the top so there is a reduced pressure in the jar. Do not suck too much as this will cause the oil to come into the vacuum hose. Maybe fit your hand around the bottle top and restrict the air so it causes a good suck. All going well you should be able to finish with the oil in the bottle and none in the cleaner. As long as the outside end of the tube is well below the bottom of the gearbox it should siphon, but may take all night. I strongly reccomend that you only replace with synthetic oil. Yes it is very expensive, but well worth the cost. 15/40 is best grade.

How do I remove the plastic cover over the engine on a 3.4 liter 2005 equinox

where the engine oil filter cap, where engine oil is added, if you remove the cap with a quarter turn ccw the plastic pipe that the cap screws into is removed exactly the same way as the fill cap. meaning this pipe is just a 4 inch extension, as if the plastic cover is removed you could throw the plastic tube away and install the oil fill cap directly into the valve cover. once the tube is twisted counter clockwise 90 degrees and lifted up, the plastic cover is able to be removed. when replacing the cover, there is a pin on backside that the cover goes into to keep it from rattling. and dont lose the rubber off the pin on plastic cover as it will rattle and drive you up the wall

Where is the oil drain plug located on a craftsman dgt 4000 with a kohler 27 hp engine thanks

Your model number is 917.275.280 Here is your owners manual.

The oil drain is a plastic tube twist affair behind the little yellow cap. You will need a plastic hose to stick on it for convenience sake. Please see page 18.

When the dipstick was removed, the top of the tube to the engine broke off. How to repair please? Thank you

Plastic dip stick funnels are always snapping off.

Remove what you can see down to metal tube. With small hook on end of stiff wire, pull out inner plastic sleeve from tube.

If it won't come out...push it down so new funnel can be installed.

It can't hurt as the tube ends one eighth of an inch from the oil pan floor.

FYI. You need to cover top of new dip stick funnel with cloth and push home until you hear it click onto tube.

Where is the oil drain plug?

Do you see a small plastic yellow cap on the side of the engine below the oil dipstick? If so you pop the cap off and use a small plastic tube to drain oil away from frame and slip over the place where the cap came from and push in and turn to the left( I think). When the oil quits draining push in and turn back the opposite way then replace the yellow cap.

Oil dip stick broke off about 1 inch in shaft

You have to remove the oil dipstick tube.  Most are just pushed into the engine block with a o ring seal.  With some effort you should be able to pull it directly out.  Have you tried a bent coat hanger with a barbed end?
The procedure is easy the acessability may be the hard part.

The oil filter is not located on the bottom of the car in the Eco-tec engines like you may be used to seeing. It is actually in the upper area of the engine.

Open the hood and it will be slightly to the driver side of the intake manifold. (Black plastic looking set of tubes that go into top of engine). It will be an aluminum cylinder with a black plastic cap that has a molded "nut" on the top for removal of the cap. Just unscrew the cap. The filter will be clipped into the cap. Just pull it off and push new filter onto the cap and screw back into housing.
