Lawn mower was running then cut off with sputter. When you turn the key you hear a click. I have changed the kill switch under the seat and at the parking brake.

my first question would be is if the starter is turning over. if it is then you can rule out the solenoid between the starter and the key switch. next since it died with a sputter it may not have been getting enough gas I would check your fuel filter and your fuel lines to see if your getting fuel to the carb bowl. if you hear click that should be the solenoid on the carb bowl sometimes it clicks but the internal parts are made of plastic they do tend to wear out then separating, plugging the fuel flow from the car bowl into your engine. oh and the ever obvious if it did die while running make sure you turn off your blades before trouble shooting.

Rulas for lawn bowls

You don't need a straight edge or a rula for lawn bowls. No one expects your bowl to be perfectly straight.

Is lawn bowling the same as bocce?

There are a few differences. First of all, a lawn bowling ball is only round in one direction (and elliptical on the other side). Also, lawn bowls are rolled as opposed to throwing them underhand in bocce.

Mailbbox posts

A good rule of thumb (and suggestion from the USPS) to use when placing your mailbox is this: the measurement from the bottom of the mailbox to the surface should be between forty-one to forty-five inches.

My lawn mower will not stay started

Since it starts, it doesn't sound like an electrical problem, it sounds like it runs out of air. To test this, remove the air filter, start it and see if it stays running. If so, replace the air filter.

It could also be varnish or sludge in the carb bowl. This is best serviced by a technician if you have little mechanical prowess.

After sitting for 3 years, I would at minimum do all of this before I expected it to run ok:

  1. Change the oil.
  2. Replace the air filter.
  3. Drain the fuel tank by removing the fuel line from the engine end (not the tank end).
  4. Replace the spark plug.
If the above did not work I would drop the carb bowl and clean it, then add one ounce of carb cleaner to a full tank, and let it run (roughly if necessary) through the engine.

After sitting 3 years I would also replace the fuel line itself!
