It might be old or something's probably wrong with it, it might need to be repaired by a professional or a manufacturer that owns the product.

If you can identify the unit you will have to shop at places that sell vintage gear and it will cost a pretty penny for sure.

Background hum from speakers when turntable is turned on. Turntable is a Garrard Zero 100 and receiver is JVC RX 318. Hum is on even with no Lp on the table and is much louder if I wave my hand over the...

You need tro ground the Zero 100 to the amp frame. Also, you may want to reverse the plug in the outlet, if that is an option (Try to plug the turntable into the amp if possible) Keep trying different arrangements until you minimize the hummmmmm

Where the heck did you find a Garrard Zero 100? That turn table is at least 35 years old ... I have one, BTW and that is how I solved mu 60 cycle hummmmmm

I hope this helps you

Garrard turntable model 630s

There are a couple of things that need to be done here and there is no guarantee that the unit will work, but I have been successful in the past.

First remove the platter and clean all of the grease out of the unit. With all of hte grease removed, replace the platter and make sure that it turns freely. Regrease the unit one all of the old is removed. Next you will need to clean and treat the rubber drive wheel.

Good luck,
