Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Here's a link to this great service

Good luck!

I have not used my machine PFAF 875 hobbymatic in over 10 years. It has been in storage. No repairmen around my area. How can I ensure that it is ready to sew? It is running but it is slow

Hello, Angie -

First, give your sewinig machine a thorough cleaning and oiling (light touch of oil in the hook raceway, only), following instructions in your PFAF 875 Hobbymatic user's manual.

If you do not have the manual, you can find it here to download:

If the machine still seems to run slowly, then I suggest you look for a nearby business which sells Pfaff machines and ask where you can have your machine serviced.

If there is no business in your area which sells Pfaff machines, perhaps you can find a generic sewing machine repair business near you.

If you have not contacted the Pfaff company regarding service for your machine, this is the link to the Pfaff Machine Support page:

Best wishes.

Starting a home-based embroidery business is a perfect approach to express your masterful abilities that also helps you to make some good amount of money.
There are a lot of factors that are important when choosing a machine like, How many needles do you need? How many colors are you typically sewing in a single design? and so on.
And for this, you should have to read some Embroidery Machine Reviews and after that you can choose the one that you feel is appropriate for your purpose.

Is there a dressmaker sewing machine with the model no. 777?

In the 1960's, Riccar made a heavy duty 777 sewing machine. Riccar made machines into the 1970's. The headquarters appears to have been in Chicago before it moved offshore. Value of the machine? Maybe $100 if it worked. Parts might be found or salvaged from machines used for parts. However, here is a Riccar shop in South Carolina:

The Riccar Sewing Machine Story

I would be doubtful regarding offers of a manual for sale for this online unless at minimum it was attached to a brick and mortar store in business (and even then might query the local Better Business Bureau).

Do I need to oil machine?

Yes all sewing machines need to be oiled, but only use oil specifically formulated for sewing machines. Any sewing machine repair and sales business can supply the right oil.

What model and year is this machine? The only number I could find on it is FZ 9032774

What a beautiful machine.

I can tell you nothing about it.

It is not and probably has never been a household name in sewing machines, but was probably introduced by an entirely different company to help them through a sticky patch in the main business or perhaps cash in on a home dress-making craze. The company could have been a maker of industrial sewing machines or something vaguely associated or something entirely different such as cycles or wood-working machinery. Perhaps the brand or company was set up to market just a few imported machines and it disappeared when the business was unsuccessful.

I have a Westminster brand of sewing machine. It is in fact an imported Japanese machine made by Brother and is such a close copy of dozens of other machines almost any instruction manual would be suitable. The Westminster brand was the in-house brand of a large electrical chain that still exists but in name only and the brand is all but forgotten except by ancient housewives and greybeards like myself.

I also have a Sew-Queen Swiss-made sewing machine. It is a small highly portable machine made of cast-aluminium with a detachable table. Today not even Google can remember the brand yet the company closed only half a century ago.

I suggest you enjoy your machine and don't worry much about it's origins...

I'm considering buying an Elna sewing machine, but I notice that there are very few of them around. None in the stores here. Are they easily serviced at any sewing machine repair business or do they take...

Servicing is not really so much an issue as spare parts and general local support. If you want accessories and parts later, a walking foot perhaps, replace a lost or broken thing-a-me-jig, it may prove more difficult to find easily if not locally available
Take a look at the machines offered locally and ask whether they do in house servicing or is it sent features across brands and see what is most likely to suit your sewing needs and budget. Demonstrations on machines are often available, especially if you can book a time in advance to reduce interuption. Also ask about any trade-in options that may be available if you have a retired machine you do not wish to keep. Small independent businesses are more likely to offer extras like lessons or a get you started goody bag...and you can talk to a person you will have an ongoing relationship with, not a corporate customer service representative who may not have specific product knowledge.
All major manufacturers have websites with a Store locator page so you can find one close to you....or the local phone book is also a good place to start.
