How to successfully use monofilament thread on Janome Horizon 7700

Generally, it is better to use monofilament in the top, not in the bobbin. There is also a problem with tension so our instructor had us tape a paper clip vertically about midway between the spool pin and the first thread guide on the top of our machine, set the spool behind the machine in a small cup and ran the monofilament through the paper clip and threaded as normal.

I am using the new Bernina #72 foot on my B530. It seems to have a clicking sound with each stitch. Is this normal? I don't know if it's the hopping or in the needle area.

I've noticed that presser feet with the spring to create the hopping action will sometimes make a clicking sound. Just verify that it is not the needle hitting something it shouldn't.

Janome Memory Craft 8200QC Horizon. Can you get a stitch regulator? How does it work? Does it help to free motion stitch ?

You should check with a Janome dealer if your machine can use a stitch regulator. Machines that take a stitch regulator need the ability to plug into the machine, which is not available on a lot of machines unless they have the stitch regulator function. A stitch regulator helps some people. It still takes a lot of practice moving the fabric smoothly.

On my BSR, it has an "eye" that measures the distance the fabric moves under the presser foot so it can stitch at the specified distance. The faster the fabric moves, the faster it stitches, but the stitches tend to more uniform in length.

FWIW, I read a summary of the Janome 8200 QC Horizon and there was no mention of a stitch regulator.

Is there a special type of monofilament thread to use?

I would suggest that you don't use this thread, it is too fine for the tension device on a domestic sewing machine, and they just don't like it. Too strong, too fine. Its best used in industrial blind hemming machines, if you look at RTW trouser hems you'll often see monofilament utilised here.

Check your upper threading, don't touch your bobbin tension, it has nothing to do with thread tangling on the bottom of the cloth.
