Everytime the mainswitch is turned off you must set the time, there`s no backup battery on the machine, so the time is lost everytime you power down. If you set the time you can program on/off time. To avoid this every day, just use the standbymode.

Machine has not been used for 2 yrs. machine steams up ok but water will not flow from tank to coffee.

If it has stood that long and had any water in it when last used, empty water and coffee, put the pot back on the warmer plate, pour 2 cups of any vinegar into the reservoir, turn on briefly until you hear and signs of life, then turn it off again.
Allow time to pass (an hour or two) and repeat the turn on/turn off cycle until you go to bed.

Morning, turn on the machine with the pot in its place and allow the vinegar to pump through.

If this works, the old evaporated water had left calcium deposits heavy enough behind to block the flow or check-valve.

BTW, whenever asking for help. always include details such as make, model , approximate age. etc. otherwise we can hardly give you a valid answer.

Red light flashing fast

The main reason for the Fast flashing red is with the water flow meter.
located at the back part of the machine below the power connector - its functionality can be checked in diagnostic mode .
see attached pictures
its either stuck due to in proper descaling or have corrosion in the connector contact of the flow meter.

Coffee maker turns off

Turn on the Auto-Off feature - it should display "2:00" - press the hour button twice and change it to "4:00" - it will now go off after every 4 hours - that is the maximum time period allowed by the coffee maker.

No steam

There is descaling and then there is descaling.

We have written a good article on how to descale saeco coffee machines which you may find useful.

Try a really heavy descale - use the recommended dosage of descale powder or solution in 3/4 the recommended quantity of water.

Run some coffee through the coffee side of your machine, then the water/steam side of your machine and then allow to sit for a good five monutes before repeating.

Do this until the solution no longer comes out with a greenish tinge and then flush both sides with fresh water.

Make you use on filtered water or an in tank filter in your machine.

If this doesnt work it's off to your saeco service center.

Steam frother

1. Pour in vinegar instead of water. 2. Bring vinegar to a boil but do not run it through the machine. 3. Turn off machine for the machine for an hour. 4. Remove sheath from the steamer. 5. Place tip of steamer into large mug of cold water. 6. Turn espresso machine on and allow vinegar to run through steamer.
Optional: Before starting the process, unbend a paperclip or metal hook (for hanging holiday ornaments) and use it to clear the steamer orifice.
It may take the vinegar a little while to dissolve and loosen the blockage. If the process does not work the first time time, try again later and allow the warm vinegar to sit in the machine longer.

No steam comes to milk frother

Try this: 1. Pour in vinegar instead of water. 2. Bring vinegar to a boil but do not run it through the machine. 3. Turn off machine for about an hour. 4. Remove sheath from the frother and clean the metal tip. 5. Place tip of frother into large mug of cold water. 6. Turn espresso machine on and allow vinegar to run through frother. 7. You'll know the frother is clear when the water in the mug begins to churn rapidly (and perhaps loudly).
It may take the vinegar a little while to dissolve and loosen the blockage. If the process does not work the first time time, try again later and allow the warm vinegar to sit in the machine longer.

Optional: Before starting the process, unbend a paperclip or thin metal hook (the kind used for hanging holiday ornaments) and use it to clear the steamer orifice.
To keep frother clear: Follow recommended descaling schedule in user manual

Vienna Deluxe Coffee Machine - Water doesnt heat up

indeed the heat sensor can be busted. Not a difficlult fix but time consuming as you need to get the whole machine appart.
Go to the saeco site and look in their parts list of your machine. It tels you the part number for the sensor. and you can order it anywhere.
Your boiler can be damaged too.
Kind regards eric

Blinking light

SCALE REMOVAL
The scale contained in the water, over time, will
cause plugging up of some elements in the appliance
and will thereby compromise its correct functioning.
The result will be that more time is
required to make coffee. The formation of scale
depends on the hardness of the water and on how
much the coffee maker has been used. To achieve
the best performance, descaling must be carried
out every so often. The coffee maker has a built-in
system that counts the number of cups of coffee
that have been made. The ON DRIP pilot light will
begin to blink when it is time to carry out descaling.
To do so, proceed as follows:
• remove the anti-chlorine filter (if present) and the
permanent filter from the coffee maker (so as not
to bathe them with vinegar)
• Dissolve 2 dessert spoons (about 30 grams) of
citric acid (available in pharmacies) in the
water;
• Place the container on the heating plate;
• Press the DRIP/AUTO button twice, allow
the equivalent of two cups to percolate and then
turn off the appliance;
• Allow the solution to sit for an hour;
• Turn the appliance back on and allow the rest of
the solution to percolate;
• Rinse by allowing the coffee maker to operate
with only water at least three times (1 full container
each time).
• Press the PROG and DRIP/AUTO buttons
simultaneously to reset the counter to zero.
IMPORTANT: if the machine is left unconnected to
the electrical mains for over two months, before
using it again it is necessary to carry out the
process of scale removal as described in the preceding
section.
