Would sooner think wheel bearing,should be able to hear the noise or feel play in the bearing if jacked up. Abs light on? often a bad bearing will get metal in the sensor and turn on the ABS light also.
if its coming from your front tire more than likely it your front wheel bearing.
jack up the front end and wiggle the tire at the top and bottom. if it wiggles around in the hub, (Not the suspension) your wheel bearing is worn out. you will also probably notice your tire is leaning in or out not straight.
My opinion, not a good car. But that is a different story. It would be easiest to bring the car in for an alignment. The technician will tell you what the car needs to do the alignment. But if you want to do it yourself then you will need to inspect all the steering componants (tie-rods,struts, lower ball joint, wheel bearings, brakes, wheels, tire wear,tread pattern, and tire pressure, and lug nuts (loose or overtightened). At that mileage it could be, and most likely is given your description of the noise. I assume it reduces in volume as you slow down. If you can find a quite piece of road drive up to where the noise is apparent and lightly swerve from left to right. (Don't roll the car!! ) If the noise reduces as you swerve left then its the left bearing. If its when you swerve right that the noise reduces its the right bearing. If its both the only way is to jack the rear up and spin the wheels as fast as you can and listen. If there's a hint of a rumble from it, its that bearing or both. It should be completely quite apart from the slight hiss as the shoes rub on the drum. 35K may not seem much but if you don't know the history of the car it could have hit a bad pot hole or even had a knock on a kerb. I have replaced bearing with a lot less miles than yours.
they are very expensive to keep up do not buy it unless you can afford the expense they are very high maintenance cars.just for an alternator you would pay about 400 or more.if you have alot of money buy it if you dont dont
My wife took the car to exaust pro in Lexington, Ky. They did a scan and it was a speed sensor. They replaced it and it is fine. The car is great but after hearing all the complaints about the heater core we are going to sell it and get a Toyota Avalon. Also I replaced the antenna mast at 35k.
