How do I remove the hassel free head of my craftsman trimmer model 358.791170

I can get you part way there. Remove the spark plug and shove some clean rope in the cylinder to prevent the engine rotating. Take the front housing off to access the clutch assembly, pull off the black plastic cover from the shaft end, and use a torx wrench to loosen the screw in the end of the shaft. After it's loose, the clutch drum will come right off. Unfortunately, I am stuck now trying to get the rest of the clutch assembly off without damaging it.

I have a 26cc 4cycle mini tiller that has a broken re-coil starter rope on it. I've got it all tore apart EXCEPT for the flywheel (I guess that's what it is) or maybe it's the cone clutch that...

you are on the right track.. you will need a torx bit for the screw in the middle of the clutch cone, your local auto parts store should have them, I think it's #15 but not sure, pull your spark plug out and put cord into cylinder to stop crankshaft from rotating while you remove this screw, next you need to remove clutch by using a screwdriver or brass rod and giving it a hard smack with a hammer, should be an arrow showing which way off, once that is off then you can finish dismantling the case and fix your spring and rope

Hard to start and oil soaked air filter, smokes and loses power

It sounds like it got tilted on its side. The air filter needs to be cleaned or replaced and the carburetor needs to be removed and cleaned.

When the tiller gets tipped over toward the air filter, oil will run out into the filter and the carburetor.

If the filter is foam you can clean it with gasoline, if its paper just buy a new one.

The carburetor is between the air filter box and the engine, it should come off with a few bolts, just remember where the springs hook up.

Open it up, take it apart and spray everything with carburetor cleaner from your local auto parts store. When you put it all together it will run like new!

Does this use mixed gasoline or regular gaso;ine

If your model does in fact have markings on it or in the manual indicating it is a 4-cycle tiller you need to put straight gas in the gas tank. It will also have an oil plug/dipstick on the motor that you have to check to make sure it is full of oil. The oil should be checked every time you fill the gas tank for the safety of your motor.

I own a 2 cycle mini tiller craftsman and I need a manual for it. I want to tune up tiller it's blowing smoke.

Manuals for many Craftsman tools are available here: . Lots of tillers are listed just by searching for Craftsman tiller. If you can find the model number (usually on a plaque on the housing of the tiller), you can narrow down the list greatly.

I hope this helps.

Hello. I saw an ad here about How do you take the drum clutch off but I did not see an answer. So I am going to ask again.Could some one tell me who to take off the drum clutch. Of a craftman 32cc gas line...

Without knowing exactly what model you have. Some of the clutch drums are held on by a single screw (usually torx head) that is accessible through the center of the shaft of the drum. Hope this helps.

Craftsman mini tiller

Craftsman mini tiller. Are you selling this unit, giving it away or what. Your information is somewhat meager to say the least.

The motor runs but the trimmer head turns slowly or not at all.

The problem may not be in the clutch assembly, if you took the engine apart you would have noticed a lot of debris if a lining had been stripped off. I would start with the lower flexible shaft assembly. This is probably where you will find something that is noticeably worn.

Here is a link to a Owner Manual / Parts listing. So you can see what the pieces should look like.

If the link doesn't work here's where you can download it for free.
