Viking range top 2 burners won't light

I have a 48" Viking rangetop, the left 2 burners light ok, the simmer/griddle in the center lights ok, the right 2 burners won't light. I hear the clicking on left side of the rangetop when I try to light them, then smell gas, but they don't light. What is wrong?

Re: Viking range top 2 burners won't light

Either the igniters are at fault (which is usually the case when one or two are not working) or the entire oven ignition system needs to be replaced and can be done through Viking themselves whether you want them to replace it or you yourself replace it, you can get the part through them.

Igniter switch on top burner will not shut off

try thoroughly cleaning the burners, particularly the holes in the ring that the gas come through. The gas come through to heat the ignitor so that the ignitor knows to stop trying to light the burner ; if the holes are clogged the ignitor doesn't heat.
The burner is easily disassembled from the top by removing a thin bolt, and you can clear the holes with a paper clip.

Is there a cleaning manual for my 6 burner/griddle viking range?

I have a product that I use to clean my burners and griddle with, it is made by ECOLAB and is called Greasecutter Plus. It doesn't hurt the range but it makes it look brand new, even my griddle comes completely clean. You just spray it on then let it sit for a bit then it wipes clean.

How do you access the ignitor wires for the

I am assuming your referring to the stove top burner ignitor. Well - I can only say on my Viking 48 inch - it was located at top RHS of the stove on the 'back wall'. I was advised by an 'come to my home tech' that it would be located at the back of my stove (ie he would have to pull out the built in unit and cost me 500$). In fact I replaced the unit in 30 minutes ... I removed the two RHS burners (one screw each), disconnected ignitor wires, removed the bracket holding the burners (one screw), followed ignitor wires to silver box covering the ignitor unit (2 screws), opened it & replaced ignitor. Forgot to say - 1st thing I did was turn off power & gas to the range.

Where can I locate the model number on my viking range? (48")

Mine was located to the left of the top burners. Remove the grates covering the burners, remove the 'spill' pans, lift up the surface that held the spill pans and then on the LHS you should see a plate with your units details.

Need to replace griddle thermostat

My husband and I just had to check out our griddle on our 48 inch Viking rangetop. You remove the grates and the grate holders on either side of the just pops out. Then you raise your griddle up about 4" to remove your thermastats., noting the position they are in so when you replace you can put back correctly. After pulling the thermastats out, then you lift the griddle out. Griddle is extremely heavy so be prepared to have close surface to lay it. Hope this helps.

Simmer plate rusted over

try using a white vinegar/water solution to wipe it off, then wash the vinegar solution off and seal with oil.

You may have to do it a few times to get the worst of the rust off.

If you get to the point of using it, to prevent it happening again, after use you need to clean it off any always finish by wipingit down with an oil soaked paper towel to seal it.

It will get discolored with use, so if you don't have one already
I would advise buying a cover, Viking make a stainless or a chopping block cover.

Ignitor won't shut off

The Viking manual says that an ignitor that continues to try to light even after the burner has been lit indicates improper grounding, and that an electrician should be consulted.

Perhaps you could try to replace the ignitor, and see if that fixes the problem?

I have a similar age, 6-burner 36" rangetop.

I have a viking rangetop and the griddle's gas is not turning on the glow plug works fine but no gas seems to be coming out.

Check the amperage draw to the igniter, if it is over 3amps and no gas, first off check the valve on the manifold behind then control panel if the valve is open then check the wiring to the thermal valve if it is connected then it would appear that the thermal valve is defective.
