SOURCE: My Singer 2639 Bobbin case

Hi, I used to have the same problem. I pulled the whole bobin casing out, cleaned it oiled it. When I put it back in, I made sure the actual bobin was turing the right direction so the cotton didnt snag and pull casing up.

If you havent already tried this give it a go.Its amazing how much gunk gets in there.

The small hook that passes through the eye of the needle is bent or broken. If it is only bent it can be straightened with a small screw driver. If it is broken it will need to be replaced. Most dealers can get this part for you for about $5.00

I am trying to replace monofilm panels in a windsurfing sail, using a Singer 457 zig zag sewing machine. I cannot create a good zig zag seam when the monofilm is sandwiched between two canvas layers.

Joe, you might try a larger needle than you're using. You might also want to try a larger leather needle. You machine should take needles up to a size 18.

It sounds like the needle you're using is having a problem picking up the bobbin thread, and that might solve it.

Needle is not catching the lope. This is singer 6212C. Needle bar has 3 marks, which one do I use no setting the needle high?

The eye of the needle should be just above the hook of the bobbin rail at it's lowest point. I was sewing just fine and then the machine got sluggish and the side wheel is super stiff. I removed all lint but it's still to stiff to work.

Maybe, you need to take a screwdriver and clean out under the throat plate. Sometimes, the lint and thread builds up under there and clogs it. After you get it cleaned out, lubricate, change your needle and rethread. I hope that is all that is wrong otherwise it is a timing issue and that is not a do it yourselfer project, because you need special tools and expertise to fix it. Good luck, I hope that I helped you.

Singer Esteem sewing machine. Needle works with all presser feet except my 1/4in quilt foot. It's hitting just to the side of the hole in the foot. How can I fix this? There is nothing to move the needle...

Check the needle to be sure it is not bent.

If this is not the problem, you will need to choose another foot to use until the machine can be repaired by a professional.

Old singer sewing machine (306k) motor works, belt o.k. but drive to needle is very stiff needle barely moves / peter

Apply a little singer machine oil to each of the holes along the top and in the working area next to needleplate.........rock handwheel gently and make several full rotations in each direction ......... keep at the rocking and rolling periodically over several hours if necessary....it should come good after a little patience and persistence. Do not apply too much oil, it will only make a mess. NOTE: Belt needs a little give to prevent motor overload, so do not overtighten.

Either you have a blunt or bent needle. or the needle is in the wrong way round, or you are sewing on a fabric that creates static or the machine mat need retiming, if it is the last one email me and I will attach timing instructions drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk

Stitch pattern is wrong

Here's the manual,

http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/SINGER/3116-_M

Lets see if we can do some troubleshooting.

Have you checked your needle (size, for thread your using, material)
It sounds like a tension/settings issue, but could be as simple as poor thread quality. try changing the thread, and rewinding the bobbin. If using a silky material remember you need to back that up and make it stiff.
If this and a resetting of tension doesnt work,

Check your left side right side balance (pg 57)
Check page 84 on trouble shooting
