Question about Nelson Garden

Open Question

One arm of my Nelson sprinkler came out. When I tried to put it back in, it shot out again with the water pressure. Should I glue it in or will that prevent it from being maneuverable?

SOURCE: Flotec Sprinkler Pump not priming

it might be that the pump is prewired at 230 volt and you are running a 115 power supply to it, if motor just humms and little water comes out this might be your fix

SOURCE: Impulse sprinklers stick after cloclwise rotation; no return

i wouldbet it is a pressure related problem , can you isolate them so you are only running 1 at atime? at least reduce the number of sprinklers running at the same time just to test them, drop the number by1or2 and i`m sure your problem will be fixed youdoit

SOURCE: Nelson traveling sprinkler broken plastic part

I just took mine apart about a week ago. If, I recall correctly, you broke the T piece. That black plastic or nylon nut that is still connected to the transmission should thread off fairly easily.

I expect you can buy the part from Nelson.

If, solution #1 is correct and you find you cannot get the part, I've done some truly amazing repairs with that epoxy product called PC7. Depending how much of the part is broken and or missing, you might find a combination of what you have plus a brass T fitting plus the PC 7 will get it working.

You have nothing to loose.

Sprinkler arms came off and water shoots straight up

You just have to screw the arms back on. There is a plastic white bolt that is attached to the arm it screws on to the tractor.

Nelson Sprinkler Rain Train Traveling Sprinkler will only go backwards , i have the arms going in the right direction...please help

If it's going backwards, and assuming you didn't take it apart and put it together wrong, then the arms aren't going in the right direction. Looking down from the top, my unit should be moving clockwise if it's set up correctly. In any case, switch it so the water pushes the arms in the other direction. the transmission is pretty straightforward - if it's going in the wrong direction then the arms are spinning in the wrong direction.

Our raintrain has worked for years....but now it is leaking out of the bottom causing it to get stuck often......please help us!!!!

I think your valve is shot. There is a button underneath that is pushed up by the ramp. It then closes the valve. The valve is leaking and lowering your water pressure causing your sprinkler to get stuck.

You could replace the valve but that requires disassembly of the gear box. The gears inside may be worn too so, I am suggesting that you just replace the gear box. Replacing the gear box will give you all new moving (and sealing) parts. This web site has a box for about 1/2 to 1/4 the price of a new sprinkler.

I would like my sprinkler to move faster ( it is in high gear) Will it go faster if I cut some off of the swing arms? If not is there anyway to make it go faster/

The speed is directly related to the amount of water pressure you have. More pressure = more speed. If you are using a 1/2" hose move to a 5/8" hose. I do not think cutting off the arms will have any measurable effect on the speed. I know of no other way to speed it up.
