Your C drive might be full. Try to see how much space you have left in your C drive. At least 10% of the total capacity should be free to make it work optimally.

Text won't load how do i delete

Try the advice from Goldenrod70 first. You probably have too many texts saved and clogging up space/memory. You can also try rebooting your device by shutting it down for about 10 mins.

Just load it back in your wife's laptop, open them in Writer and immediately save then as either txt or doc. And for the future you can configure Writer thru the tools-options-load\save to save all the files as doc.

You don't. Scanners save everything as a Picture. Test is not text, it is a combination of thousands of dots that make up a picture. It takes an OCR and very complicated software to read text from a picture.

Doc chnages required

You can't.  You could try loading the Adobe professional software, but I do not think it lets you edit PDF's
If the Doc contains words you can OCR (Optical Character Recognition) it (ie read it) edit it an dthen create a new PDF.

Problem using OCR with Canon MP610 all-in-one

I got this message too, before I installed an OCR program. It may be that you need to install one (or specify it, if you have one already). With my MP610, an installation disk was included that contained the OmniPage SE program for OCR. When I installed that on my computer, and told MP Navigator (another Canon-supplied program, that controls scanning) to use it as the "Open With" program for OCR, it worked.

Canon printer MP470: I have never been able to use the OCR. Can you tell me how to click, click, click to do OCR? I go to MP Navigator/ One Click/ OCR/ then it says specify program where scanned...

Dear Tom,

No problem, you're a mere 17 steps away from creating a high-quality document using Canon's cutting-edge OCR software!

1. Load doc onto platen.

2. Press "SCAN" button.

3. Make sure "DOCUMENT" bar is yellow and press "OK" button.

4. Make sure "SCAN TO PC" button is yellow and press "OK" button.

5. Press "BLACK" button (w/ white diamond on it) located under the word "START" (might take a couple of tries as this button tends to stick a little.)

6. On computer screen, find image of doc that was just scanned and select it by clicking on little check box under image so a check appears. MAKE SURE NO OTHER DOCS ARE SELECTED AND/OR DE-SELECT THEM NOW.

7. On computer screen, find "double chevron" bar in lower left-hand corner and click on it.

8. Click on "EDIT/CONVERT."

9. Click on "CONVERT TO TEXT FILE."

10. This will bring up a new window. Click on the "blue arrow" with "1-2-3" next to it, located in upper left-hand corner of computer screen.

11. This will bring up a new window with three buttons to choose from. Click on the middle button, which says "PROCESS ALL UNRECOGNIZED PAGES"

12. This should start the OCR process and bring up a new window.

13. At this point, I just hit "CANCEL" and highlight & copy the OCR text by myself. (This will allow you to get around the "SPECIFY PROGRAM" program you referred to in your post.)

14. Then I open a new doc in Word (or whatever word processing program you use) and paste it directly into the new doc.

15. Then I save it into whatever folder I need to save it in.

16. Make sure to read through the doc and correct any OCR typos and/or "artifacts."

17. Save one more time to make sure you don't lose your work and you're done!

OPTIONAL 18th STEP: Open a beer and do a big bong hit -- you've earned it, soldier!

SCANNING PROBLEM

Maybe that JPG has very high quality, big size that Word cant handle it, it sometimes happens. Try to put it on some other text-editing software, I bet that WORD doesnt handle that big JPG. Happend for me also :) try to upload it to an image-hosting site, then just put the link in the DOC :)
