I'd like to install a version of Linux on my laptop. I am a beginner; what ill fit me and how to install it?

For a beginner the best version of Linux for a laptop remains UBUNTU. But you can count on LINUX MINT and the latest version of it is called JULIA.
You can find UBUNTU here. And LINUX MINT here.
The BOTH can be installed via installation DVD and for both also you can TRY BEFORE INSTALL, meaning you can run the version of LINUX LIVE, taste and test it before you will install it on your hard drive.

There's a password every time I use the Microsoft word and PowerPoint.so what password I would type?

Whatever password you set up for it.
Try no password - sometimes non are set but the computer asks and a blank space is fine. If someone sent you the file - they could have password protected it - so ask them for the password. If something is password protected its not supposed to open easily!

LAPTOP TELL ME i HAVE LOW DISK SPACE

This means your Harddrive(HDD) is nearly full with files and there is no more room to save/work on the harddrive.
You will have to delete some saved files or to uninstall some programs that you are not using anymore, this will create some free space on your HDD. Also do a right click on the Recycle bin/Empty recycle bin and it wil clear some space... If you need more help, let me know, I am happy to help you...

Hurrah there is NTFS option available now

Beginner..how much free hard drive space do I need?

Normally, 10GB is devoted to programs on a regular size hard drive, therefore, I would suggest that you clear at least this much. How much RAM does your PC have?

Not enough space for Music DB, please free 8 MB

The Sansa m250 requires a separate folder to load your songs to in order to achieve the full 2 GB. Set your USB to MSC. Plug it into your computer. Create a folder TUNES. Then drag and drop your mp3 or wma files to this new folder.
