Generic problem for all Vacuums

Hoover Wind Tunnel Upright Self-Propelled (by 2 users)

Hi, I have the above vacuum and I have LOTS of suction with the hose and absolutely NONE with the upright. All belts are fine, no obstructions anywhere, dirt cup, filter and pre-filter all in place and working properly. When the dirt cup is removed there is LOTS of suction if I hold my hand over the intake. Wondering what part the idler arm assembly plays in the function of a bagless upright and if I should try replacing that part......thanks ! Barb

I too get plenty of suction from the hose, but it appears the flapper door is not opening all the way behind the right wheel. The beater bar rotates when in use, but just not enough suction. I have double checked for clogs between the chamber system and bottom unit including removing the molded plastic "hose" part behind the chamber. All clear. Any suggestions?

If you have suction at the hose, then the problem has to down below. Maybe the inlet is clogged. The belts may look ok, but I am sure they have stretched and aren't moving the brush roll under load like it should. The idler has to do with in the carpet setting, it puts tension on the "V" belt so the brush roll will turn and in the floor setting it will roll doesn't turn.
