Hi.

Air duct must be checked. Poor ventilation is common cause for the problem.

If ventilation is OK, then the other possible cause is a defective flame sensor. The flame sensor is connected in parallel with the valve solenoid. For safety reasons testing must be done by a technician.

To get a quote on repair ring the service number listed on the user manual.

How do you light the pilot light on vulcan compact 60? there is no ignotion button to be seen

hi chris, did you work out how to light the pilot light! the instructions are great until it says light the pilot.... yeah, but where is the pilot light?? it is easy to find when it is on... but not obvious when off... i\'m pressing the button in for 15 seconds and then waving around a naked flame... it just doesn\'t feel safe after 30 seconds of gas wissing and no joy... plus i\'m in a crawl space under my apartment covered in spider webs - i\'d love another clue so i can get out of the crawl space quicker ;-) thanks ren

If everything there chacks out then look for the thermocouple. I looked around and did not see one for the Vulcan heater. I would call then directly to find a dealer and a part number fo it.

I replaced the thermocouple on my Vulcan 36SL. First time, first problem in 10 years. But the pilot flame still goes out. Any advice?

You should check to be sure your pilot flame is strong and not wavy. This can be caused by the pilot itself being dirty and clogged. The pilot gas orifice is very small and it doesn't take much to disrupt the flame. If this is good and the pilot flame is heating the thermocouple correctly you will need to look at your safety valve. It could be the problem. Be sure not to over tighten thermocouples into the safety valve, they should only be hand tight plus a quarter turn. Any more than that can break the safety and the thermocouple. You should also check the gas pressure, if it is too low or a regulator is not working the pilot can go out when the main burner is turned on (pilot can get starved in low pressure situation). Another item to check is drafts and air movement that could blow the pilot out, since the oven has been there a while this is not likely the cause. I hope this helps. Please take a moment to rate me.
