There may be a paper jam! If you have checked everything else, open the back of the printer and press the two levers which further release the back of the printer. You may find paper there. I spent nearly an hour conversing with a Brother technical expert because the paper light was blinking, the status light was red, though the computer indicated that the printer was ready, and the blue paper lever at the front of the printer tray indicated full on an empty tray. Once I discovered the paper jammed in the back of the printer and removed it, everything was great!
