Question about Global Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

I normally work on my TI Nspire CAS CX in "FLOAT" but I need scientific notation for this one line of math. Is there something that I can use do I have to change my global settings every time?

If I want to keep my TI Nspire CAS CX in "FLOAT" but I need to have this large number displayed in scientific notation, is there something that I can use to convert this one time situation or do I have to change my global settings every time I need to see a scientific notation number (I normally work in float).

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

It's been a while since my TI calculator died, but I think you can just hit EE (may be "exp" on your model) followed by =.

SOURCE: My Ti-nspire is set to Float. However, on the box

Float on the t-nspire essentially means round to the nearest whole number. Your best bet is to set float to a higher number.

SOURCE: my caculator (ti-83) is not

244140625 is the answer to 25^6 but as for your issue, if you are in scientific mode and punch in 25 X^y (X to the power y) 6 and then press enter, it should display this result.
My guess is simply that you aren't pressing ENTER to get the result of the calculation since we know the calculator is more than capable of displaying the above result on it's screen!

Hi! I have a TI-nspire CX CAS and I was wondering how to enable the results to be shown in thousands separators (1,000 or 1'000). Thanks for your help!

At first press on key, then Settings and finally Document Settings. From this menu on the position Base choose Decimal. See captured image below

The calculator writes 8 all over

During operation of the TI-Nspire handheld it may be necessary to reset the device. Circumstances which may require a reset include; keys not responding, device will not turn on or a garbled display. To reset the device:
• Remove the keypad (for TI-Nspire with ClickPad, TI-Nspire with TouchPad, and TI-Nspire CAS with Touchpad) or the battery door (for TI-Nspire CAS with ClickPad) and remove at least one battery from each column of batteries. After 2-5 seconds, reinsert the batteries but do not turn the handheld on.
For the TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS handheld units with ClickPad:
• Hold down [home] [enter] [P].
• While holding these keys press [on].
For the TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS handheld units with TouchPad and the TI-Nspire CX and TI-Nspire CX CAS:
• Hold down [doc] [enter] [EE].
• While holding these keys press [on].
Please Note: For TI-Nspire Family handheld units that contain rechargeable batteries you can alternatively hold the above keys while pressing the [reset] button on the back of the handheld rather than removing the battery for 2-5 seconds.
• The device will boot up as in the previous reset, but will display a menu with the following options. Please try options 2, 3, and 4 in that order.
• 1: Cancel - The most non-intrusive reset option; no changes are made, the unit restarts.
• 2: Delete Operating System - The operating system will be deleted without deleting any documents on the system.
• 3: Delete Document Folder Contents - This will delete the user's documents, but will not delete the OS. Selecting this option is the same as using the RESET hole on the back of the unit.
• 4: Complete Format - This will delete the OS and all documents for a total wipe of the handheld.
Please note that the second and fourth option will require that the OS will need to be reinstalled

How to get the ti nspire cx to give square root answers

You can not achieve this with the Ti-nspire cx. Only the CAS version will give the square root form. On the CAS there is an option in the settings called "EXACT" under calculation mode. The cx does not have this mode.

Hi, I have a problem with ti-nspire cx cas.

The Ti Nspire CX CAS has a built in battery. It must be recharged. If you plug it in a wall socket or in a USB charger you should be able to use while it is being recharged.
