SOURCE: TTY/ TDD Phones Question

TTD/TTY devices use normal phone lines to communicate. An individual with a TTY/TDD can either communicate with another TTY/TDD device or can make a call to a standard telephone. In this case, the TTY/TDD device calls a live relay operator and the live relay operator communicates with both parties either with a TTY/TDD device or uses their normal human voice on a standard telephone. It is important to note that there are different protocols that can be used to communicate with TTY/TDD devices, however many newer TTY/TDD devices can handle a wide range of protocols and can even communicate directly from a personal computer using special software and a computer modem.

Please describe what is inside a TTY communication device

Your best bet would be to visit a full line phone store.
Look for a clear-phone on display. You would see all the stuff: diodes, sensors, speakers, tiny-bulbs etc. All these items are similar to what's inside a TTY.

No hearing voice. Volume control not available during TTY call.

alil_ramkama,

If you are hearing normally with you unit and just having a problem with TTY Commuications then consider this;

Take your pocket talker to your dispenser to determine if it is operating properly and can be used with TTY unit.

Your unit may be able to connect directly to your TTY. Also, your unit may not be strong enough for you to hear on your TTY.

We hope these suggestions will be helpful. Thanks for contacting FixYa.com

How do i get updates since i have vista

Updates are always available online.
If you try to add unathorized gadgets to your TTY, you could have problems. Always check the owners manual for "dos and don'ts."
