Be sure that when you thread the top thread, the presser foot is ALWAYS IN THE RAISED POSITION.

I have a different machine with the opening on the top of the take-up lever and the thread "jumps" out when I sew fast. I simply folded a piece of tape over the top of the opening and it doesn't jump out anymore... Just create something that will close the opening at the top.

How to adjust stitch length on my 930 record? I need to make length longer.

On the right side of your machine, there is a lever that moves up and down that has lines marking 1 through 4. Setting it on 4 will give you the longest stitch length available. If you push the lever all the way up above the numbers, it will reverse stitch.

Make sure that you raise the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread. This helps the thread seat properly in the tension guide.

What is the difference between a bernina record 930 and just a bernina 930

At the present time, Bernina 930 Record and Bernina 930 are the same machine. Although, technically the name is Bernina 930 Record, referring to the mostly mechanical sewing machine produced in the 1980's. They are very coveted machines and one of the more popular models.

However, Bernina has, in the past few years, begun producing computerized machines and labeling them with the same numbers of older mechanical machines (makes things very confusing), ie Bernina 830 Record vs Bernina 830 computerized model. At this point in time, Bernina has not yet produced a computerized 930.

My thread uptake lever keeps coming unthreaded. It causes stitches to be skipped and eventually the thread breaks. I have adjusted the tension, it doesn't help.

take up lever--try putting some tape on it to see if that will stop the thread from coming off.
also change the needle--make sure is the correct one for the fabric

Thread is catching & breaking somewhere inside the machine before it gets to the needle. brother XL-5600 machine

According to page 18 of the manual, the only place the thread could be catching would be the tension discs or the uptake lever.

Lift the presser foot and run a heavier thread or flat, unwaxed dental floss through the threading procedure to see if this will clean out a thread that may have jammed into the discs.

Always thread with the presser foot up and make sure the uptake lever catches the thread.

If this continues, take the machine to an authorized Brother dealer for service.

The upper thread tension on my Bernina 930 is too loose. I have changed the needle (it is in correctly) Checked for dust/thread remnants in both the tension springs and bobbin. Cleaned and oiled the bobbin...

If you threaded the machine with the presser foot lever raised and the stitching is still loose, the tension control may need a new spring or the entire control may need to be replaced.

Berninas tend to be the only brand that hold their value and it would be worth the expense to take it to an authorized Bernina dealer for service and repair.

930 My bobbin thread is skipping or showing a loop spiratically. I have cleaned the thread dust out and oiled. What is wrong?

Hi, always start with a new needle when diagnosing this in case the old one is the culprit. But my first inclination is that the distance between the hook and the needle needs to be adjusted. Yes, a tech job. You can look at the thread just above the fabric as the needle enters it and if there is slack then your check spring needs adjusting. The check spring is where the thread goes through on to just before the take up lever. If there is slack there will be the occasional top loop. Same with hook/needle distance. Probably time for a check up. Hope this helped somehow.
