SOURCE: Can i use debit and prepaid cards for online

Most debit and prepaid cards allow online purchases. However some cards may have certain limits. For example there might be limited amounts of money that can be payed or withdrawn each time; there might be limited amounts of transactions or withdrawals allowed each month or each day; or the use of the card may be limited to one country and its websites.

Prepaid Cards 101

Prepaid cards, also called reloadable cards, can be very useful as a substitute to cash. However, before you shop for a prepaid card, you should make sure to take some precautions and do some research, like considering different providers, their fees, benefits and regulations. Some companies, for example, provide fraud and loss protections.

Once you have chosen a company and received your prepaid card, make sure you record all the information written on it, like the card number, customer service number, expiration date etc. You can make a photocopy of the front and back and keep it in a safe place together with the card's accompanying sleeve or packaging. In case of loss it will be much easier to report it to the authorities and the card provider if you have all the right data.

At this point you can easily and comfortably use your card, but make sure to always keep track of your balance (most cards allow you to check your balance by phone, text or online). Only this way you will be able to avoid overdraft and prevent/report unauthorized purchases.

It won"t let me add my husband to my temporary greendot debit card

This Is not a computer problem, you can only add someone to a card when you have your actuall card and you have to have enough money on your card to pay for your husbands card and to be able to pay your normal monthly fee, ( walmart has a cheaper green dot monthy fee then the ones you find at rite aid or something,)

I was trying to verify my email so i could activate my paypa[ debit card i could not login from paypal .com prepaid to get verification so i went to paypal.com

Some PayPal look a likes are actually fraud artists. Be careful giving out any info and look at these things carefully otherwise you can get stung. Make sure it's the actual PayPal site and not a close representation. Maybe you made a mistake in the email address you gave and therefore you are trying to access someone else's or a non existent email address.

What is a prepaid card?

Prepaid cards are also called reloadable cards and are similar to credit and debit cards in their way of electronically accessing to one's money. They are used mainly by people who don't use banks for financial transactions, sometimes because of poor credit ratings. They can be used by anyone over 18, worldwide, it's safer than carrying cash and there is no risk of going into debt because the card will not allow any payment that exceeds the amount of money present in the card. It's like a safer and flatter wallet

What is the difference between debit and credit cards?

While credit cards add up the cardholder's payments and withdraws the money from the account later on, for example at the end of the month, debit cards send a message to the cardholder's bank that immediately activates the payment.
