Error 1 is a defect in the steam heating unit.
Possible solutions:
Thermal sensor is defective -replace.
Cable to the thermal is broken or contact pins are corroded - replace, repair.
Heating or thermal cut-out are defective - measure and replace parts if required.
Triac on the power board is defective. The heater heats up triggering the overtemperature protection - Replace the overtempereature protection (thermal cut out) and the power board or the single triac.

Just got a used Snap on Plasma25. Put new Tip and elctode in it. Worked great for a few cuts then the Red Light on front of the machine came on and now wont do anything?? I dont have the manual so I dont...

I am not familiar with the guts of a snap on 25 amp plasma, but i have extensive experiance repairing inverter based cutters. 2 common problems which would cause this type of malfunction is the thermal protection circuitry, and mosfet failure. The first is easier to check and is the likely culprit. If the unit is Mosfet based, and i suspect it is, located on the aluminum heat sink the mosfets are mounted to, is a button sized device with 2 wires coming out of it. This is a normally closed switch with bi-metallic contact points inside. When it gets hot, the switch opens, and shuts down the output of the machine untill it cools off again. Many times, these arms dont quite return to their normal closed position if you exceed the duty cycle often. unplug the wires from this switch and check for continuity, if its open, you can temporarily bypass this by running a jumper across the terminals on the switch. If this gets your machine running, i advise you to replace the switch, dont operate it with the jumper in place...... If this isnt the problem, the feed back circuitry driving the mosfets is more than likely detecting a shorted mosfet. A 25 amp machine may have 9 mosfets, paired off in sets of 3, which handle abt 3 amps apiece.....chances are all 3 would have blown if there was a failure, check for obvious damage, a blown mosfet in most instances can be detected visually as 9 times out of 10, they this helps, good luck

My Hobart 250 airforce doesn't start

On the main circuit board for the power supply, there is usually a thermal fuse installed, its a sealed unit and is not servicible, look for a black epoxied case, approx 3/8x3/4 long, with 2 leads coming out of it. Inside is a set of bi-metal contact points which serves as an over voltage/over current protection. These contacts deform/corode over time and it sounds like there not contacting properly. As soon as you try to load the machine, the current passing through this high resistance heats these contacts up, and shuts off power to the unit. I am not familiar with the guts of a hypertherm, but have extensive experiance repairing inverter based plasma cutting equipment, and i have encountered this before. I assume hypertherm must have some equivelent to this thermal switch inside the power supply.....Good luck..

A red fault light is illuminated all the time it wont work

The 3 reasons which will cause the infamous red light of death to come on and the machine not function, is because of over/under voltage protection,( make sure you have adequate voltage to the machine) thermal protection (because the duty cycle was exceeded), or mosfet failure. Assuming you have the correct voltage, and the machine is cold, try opening the case. Attached to the aluminum heat sink housing the mosfet transistors is a small button sized metal pill with 2 wired attached to it. This is a bi-metallic thermal fuse, when it gets hot, the contact points inside will open up, and cause the machine to shut down. Check for continuity, because sometimes these contact points inside dont re-align correctly, and your machine thinks its always too hot. If you plug in the machine, and it seems to work, but when you key your plasma torch, everything shuts down and the red light comes on......then theres a good chance the mosfets are gone. When they go, there paired off in series of 3, Chances are youll need to change all 3. Hope this helps........

Not getting a spark when I pull the trigger

Try checking the front Panel and Internal fuses, as well as the thermal overload.

This could happen when you exceed the duty cycle.

eg: 20% Duty Cycle In a period of 10 Minutes, 2 minutes cutting, 8 minutes not.

Best of luck

Infinity Reference 7541a protect & Clip lights come on

Hello pianopeter, I have the same amp with the same problem but only when the crossover mode switch on the front channel is set to low pass or high pass. Have'nt fixed that yet cause when I got the amp and put power to it the clip and protect lights would flash back and forth. I turned out to have 2 bad output transistors on the right front channel, I replaced them and amp works great now. Then when I was doing final testing I switched the crossover mode switch to lowpass and your problem occured. I do believe the problem is in the removable board which controls the controls the crossover and input to a point. Try moving the crossover mode switch to flat on both front and rear and let me know if amp works fine that way. I'll be working on this problem soon but would like to know if your problem changes if you move the switch to flat. Please leave me a message as soon as you find out cause this will aid in the process of me fixing problem. I am an electronics tech and buy and fix broken amps all the time so I have a really good knowledge of car amp repair. Once again let me know ASAP, Thanks

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at
