SOURCE: quasar 1989 tv makes a buzzing motor sound

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, if you have confirmed that the source of the buzzing sound is from inside the TV, then that would indicate a component about to fail or would need attention. Let us try process of elimination:

  • tuner - most unlikely, the tuner is responsible for selecting the channel. No component/part of the tuner could make such a mechanical buzzing sound;
  • speaker(s) - most unlikely, the speaker could have a buzz but generally would not affect the video nor cause snow (weak TV signals);
  • transformer - a strong possibility although without knowing the exact model, at most generic ideas; power transformer, flyback transformer, horizontal drive transformer (unlikely);
  • arcing - another strong possibility. This could be caused by damp, dusty surroundings of the components especially at the FBT area. Another area that could have adverse effect when dusty/damp would be the anode cap.
This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: TV making loud buzzing sound

More sets than you might imagine have this kind of problem---I a regular TV it is usually a transformer that is vibrating hard enough to make the sound---the higher pitched sound is just that--a sound.

If this is a direct view(means not a flatscreen and has a Glass Picture tube it will be either the high voltage transformer or one of several smaller transformers.

This can usually be fixed---seen a few so loud the cats in the house run away.

Let me know model number of set for more information.

On chance it has the high voltage transformer I attach a photo of what that looks like.

SOURCE: my washer won't spin, just makes a buzzing sound is this repairable?

fl is the code for a pump takind too long to drain. you have the buzzing so hopefull it is just clogged with small sock or debris from a yarn type item. to access pump (there are two types) unplug washer if you can bring it outside as this can hold lots of water. if not have a large wet vac handy. tilt washer 45 degrees to access bottom panel . remove three 5/16 screws, remove panel. the pump has one beige hose,one black. unclip or remove 4 torx screws depending on the type pump. clear pump. re-assemble. if indoors very important to slowly remove beige hose while running vacuum if not several gals of water will rush out. if this is a pump with the grey housing and it occurs immediately you have probably stripped the pump shaft and will have to replace it with the newre style pump. which will be the same procedure just one more step. the pump retails about 88 dollars. good luck

No sound - Dynex DX-L42-10A

No, I have not heard of this either. If you've checked your connections, etc and still have no sound, try to do a power cycle of the TV. Turn it off, unplug it and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on and restore settings to factory defaults. If you still experience issues, then you'll want to proceed with service repairs. However, depending on the repairs necessary, it may be cheaper to pursue replacement, than get it repaired.

This is a case of filter capacitors leaky or dry. It could also be due to over voltage in that area of the board. Require attention of a skilled and qualified service technician.

Our Dynex dx l40 10a will not turn on. red light on front is on and the speakers are making a pulsing buzz noise. when we slightly jiggle the area that the power cord plugs into it turns off and on...

Turn the TV off, unplug it from the wall. Hold down the power button on the TV for about 20 seconds. Reconnect it and try to turn the TV on again. If the problem persists the TV is in need of some service by an authorized service center if under warranty. If not, look around for someone that can take a look at it in your area.

How do I get rid of the constant buzzing sound coming from the back of my dynes. The only way I can get it to stop is to hit the mute button

The only thing you can do is if your on a cable box, make sure the volume on the box is all the way up. Then adjust the volume on the tv according to your likening. If you don't have a cable box then I would contact your local service company because you have an issue with the set.

Dynex t. v. the volume control button increases

Make sure this is happening from two sources such as a dvd player and a gaming system as well. If it happens from two sources the speakers are more than likely not working or the sound board will need to be replaced. A cheap way of getting around a repair is by getting a surround sound and running a cablebox, dvd player, and/or your gaming system directly to the surround sound system using it for sound instead of the tv.
