Scrambling WHAT? The picture? The sound? The channel lineup? Left to right stereo? Your breakfast eggs?

    The picture

  • solver2010 May 11, 2017

Is any of the picture readable, which means the picture may just be pixelating?

    Yes it's readable

  • solver2010 May 11, 2017

Then check your cable connections, and if they are tight enough, complain to your cable provider or TV service (assuming you have one)!

    Thats even without cable

  • solver2010 May 11, 2017

How old is the TV set, and what settings do you have it on? TV channel, HDMI cable, or audio / video input? What is the signal source without cable?

It sounds that the main power regulator board has the fault. Try by replacing the electrolytic capacitors there. These capacitors can deteriorate its value with time. As the set is about 4 years old, this might be the fault. If it do not help you, replace the power regulator board as card basis. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/Pull up older posts. Check the site in 'Mosaic' view.It will make search easy.

Hitachi ultravision digital projection TV. The picture scrambles horizontally. The colors look fine. The picture is great for the first few minutes the TV is on, then it scrambles. I've unplugged it,

This sounds like a heating problem..Either there is something keeping the heat inside the cabinet like stuff on top of the cooling vents (also on the sides and bottom) or there is dust inside. Blow the thing clean with clean, dry compressed air inside the cabinet.

54inch Hitachi TV has double figures and colors red, yellow-not normal. Set approximately seven -eight years old. Lost remote control and direction book in moving. Is the set worth getting fixed? Generally...

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony2_bing.gif,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer2_bing.gif, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms

  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

  • Dull looking picture
  • White looking picture
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking picture

Trying to plug in my xbox and can get sound but no picture

Is this the first time you've tried plugging in your Xbox?

Is it Xbox or Xbox 360?

Try plugging it into another TV yet?

I've had a similar problem where I've manually set the resolution of my television on my Xbox. I had it set up for 1080p and then plugged it into my little CRT. The picture was all scrambled and I couldn't do anything. I had to plug it into another TV to fix it. This is the original Xbox by the way.

Check the settings on the Xbox, and if that doesn't work, try swapping out the cables or put it on another TV.

Hitachi 53SDX89BA

I also have a Hitachi 53SDX89BA and I bought it with the same assumption as you: that it's HD ready. The specs in the manual states the following: "Full 1080i HDTV Capatable with Set-Top Box". I beleive this means that it does not include an HD tuner, but that it is capable of handling up to 1080i resolution. Normal (non-HD) resolution on this TV is 480i.

So here's my problem: Until recently, I wasn't using the HD settings on this TV because I don't have a set top box, nor do I subscribe to any HD content from my cable provider. However, I just purchased an XBox 360 along with an XBox 360 HD-DVD player (it's an XBox peripheral that works with the game console). The Xbox asks you to choose the resolution output (480i, 720i or 1080i) to match your TV's HD capabilities. When I select 1080i output and change my TV's settings to receive an HD signal, the picture quality is amazing. However, the video signal seems to get lost ocassionally (i.e. TV picture gets scrambled) but then it comes right back. This does not happen when I select a 480i output on the Xbox...but of course, the picture isn't as crisp and clear as a 1080i picture.

I don't know if this is a problem with the TV or with the Xbox. Has anybody else had this problem??
