SOURCE: dayton drill press, How do you remove the chuck?

If the spindle has a slot in it above the chuck and you can see the top of the chuck arbor in that slot then you need to get a wedged piece of steel commonly called a drift , insert in the slot so it bears on the top of the arbor and the top of the slot and hit it with a hammer. This will knock the tapered arbor loose from the spindle and it should fall out. Hope this helps you.

Chuck removal/cordless driver drills

For chuck removal first remove the chuck retaining screw which is LH thread. If this tool has a high/low selector shift to LOW and if equipped with a clutch shift to the drill only position. Find a bent handle allen wrench about the size of chuck capacity (the larger the better, less flexing) and insert the short portion into the jaws and tighten. Position the chuck on a workbench or block of wood with the longer portion at about a 30 degree angle so you can strike it counter clockwise with a hammer, strike the longer portion and the chuck should loosen (it is standard thread pattern) It might take a couple hits to remove. Chuck installation would be to reverse the above to seat the chuck and reinstall the screw.

Hello my drill bit holder is stuck open and the fingers that hold the drill bit won't come out of the housing no matter how hard I turn it.

If you go to this URL you will see a screw that is #1 in the exploded view.

If the chuck on your drill is open you might be able to access this screw. It appears that this screw holds the chuck onto the drill and removing it might allow you to remove and then replace the chuck. I am not 100% sure of this, but it looks like a good place to start.
