Active Sync Installation not recognizing Outlook on PDA

During install of Active sync (ver4.5) I am notified I will not be able to access outlook items (on PDA).
The message says I must install and run Outlook to be able to sync outlook items with PC.

Note that active syc works very well for moving files.

How do I resolve? Outlook messages and contacts are installed on PDA.
and I would like to sync with Contacts.

How to sync palm data with Itouch? I have all my contacts & calendar on my Palm Zire. How can I get the same data over to my I touch in a Windows XP environment ?

You can sync to Outlook on the PC and then get the Outlook data onto the iTouch. If you have a newer PDA, It's install CD has a Sync options menu item where you can switch between Palm Desktop and Outlook. If you no longer have the original install CD or have an older device Pocket, Copy from It will move the Palm Desktop records to Outlook.

Ipaq h2210 won't sync with desktop

Usually the simplest solution with Microsoft software such as active-sync is to uninstall it and install it again from scratch. When you reinstall it will ask you what programs you want to sync with, your old PIM software has been lowered in priority in favour of Outlook because MS think everyone should want to use it, so it's often easier to start using Outlook as your main PIM.

Switching to the MS Outlook Conduits using the Palm Installation CD

Search Installation Disk, I had this same issue. The Outlook conduit is on the installation guide, you have to search for it. 1. Insert the installation disk. 2. Open My Computer 3. Right click the drive that contains the disk. 4. Click Search. 5. Enter the conduit name for your device (ex: Pocket Mirror) 6. The search results should contain the executible file that you need to run to sync with Outlook. Hope this helps.

Tungsten E - HotSync with Outlook 2003

Don't skip the initial HotSync for secondary computer! Alright, I figured this one out on my own and figured I'd post what I'd learned so that others don't have to endure the teeth mashing, hair pulling, snarling frustration. (self induced as it may be) My experiences have taught me to not always trust a cookie cutter installation wizard...especially for custom app installations (ie: primary = home, secondary=work, total sync, no priority). So, I did not perform the initial sync during installation of the palm software fearing that the new installation would NOT recognize that the work computer was a secondary machine and resultantly wipe out the old palm data from the primary machine. Turns out, as I saw in many other unrelated posts, that it's difficult (if not impossible) to specify conduit direction to outlook 2003 outside of the initial sync (this prompted me to specifically look for conduit direction during install). So, this wizard is one I should have mistake...because of weak program design. By the way...once I specified sync with outlook during the initial sync, EVERYTHING works fine despite not having installed the two "imperative" conduit updates (they were uninstalled after several previous failed attempts at this). Hope this helps

Does the ipaq 2215 work with Outlook 2002?

Active Sync will work with many version of outlook. Your PDA interfaces with Active Sync. Certain versions of Windows Mobile software and/or PDA's require higher versions of active sync to sync correctly.

I have PalmIIIxe. Is there a way to sync with Outlook using my PDA?

Yes - the software was included. Your CD software allows you to select synch with Palm Desktop or synch to Outlook. As long as Outlook is installed on the PC, the CD software installer will see Outlook and offer you this option. So the answer to your question is - reinstall the software and take the option to sync with Outlook when it is offered. PS just in case you have Outlook Express, this is not the same things as full Outlook. Outlook Express requires third-party software for synchronization of its email database and of its addressbook (actually Windows Address Book WAB format).

Reinstallation of app onto iPAQ upon hard reset

In activesync under Tools/Add REmove programs you can check the box and click "ok" that will install the program. For the most part it's best to do it one program at a time. Obviously your PDA should be cradled or this. Most programs will re-install fine this way. Some programs though do require you to re-install from the installtion program directly since active sync doesn't pick up some important parts of the program. The two programs I have that require the special install are: CLC Journal since it has an outlook component and sets up a sync for the Outlook Journal. The Stowaway Keyboard driver since it had to ask me what language (the new driver doesn't do this...) The other 30 odd programs I have install straight from active sync.
