Maybe a streched, weak belt and when it tries to play, since its not advancing like it should it senses the end of the tape and will stop. Open it up, check the belt. VCRs are old now!

Power goes off when a cassette is inserted. Tried cleaning heads but it won't even run that. When power is turned back on the cassette is immediately ejected.

Good day!!!

Most common problems
  • VCR refuses to FF or REW and shuts off.
  • VCR shuts off entering PLAY or REC or at random during PLAY or REC.
  • VCR eats tapes.
  • VCR doesn't accept tapes or ejects them without cause.
  • Sound is wavery, fluctuating, or muddy.
The cause for all of these is very often a bad idler tire or other dirty, worn, or tired rubber parts

Vcr/dvd combo, vcr no longer will play tape, when I press play, after a few seconds will eject tape.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the eject mechanism and the drive motor connected with the tape mechanism. Try and align the drive motor. Also check the push-pull arm of the tape mechanism and make sure that the springs connected with the mechanism are fine.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Magnavox zv450mw8 Walmart VCR/DVD recorder. shuts off

on vcr's if the tape is hard to turn the tape will sense this and reject the tape. Try to get a tape that you can feel turn free eaiser. I would rewind it to the middle of the tape so each side is equal and it would make the tape run easier. If it runs ok then the unit is bad and is too sensitve to the pull on the tape. This is all designed in the electronics and there is not much you can do about it then get return it if you can.

VCR Not Accepting Certain VHS Tape

I had this happen once and all I did to correct it was to fast forward it just slightly or manually wind it past the leader strip (the clear or white part at the beginning). To do it manually, there is a small hole you must insert a toothpick (or something else as small) to push the pin in and then advance it with your finger while holding the pin in. Hope this helps.
