There is a quick and inexpensive solution to the problem. Household vinegar. Pour about one cup vinegar into water reservoir, replace filter basket without filter allow it to cycle through. After it has finished brewing, you may repeat with another cup of vinegar. Once you are finished running the cycle with vinegar, fill water reservoir with water and cycle through. Be sure to run water through machine at least twice to rinse out all the sediment and or vinegar. Works everytime my coffee maker starts running slow.

Self cleaning the quisinart coffee maker

I always use a mixture of 50:50 of cold water and white vinegar to help clean the internal parts of any minerals and scaling.

Unplug the coffee maker first, then add the water/vinegar mix to the reservoir.

Place a new, clean paper filter in the basket to help catch any deposits that will be dislodged and cleaned from the coffee maker.

As far as having the coffee pot dry, there is no need for that. I do tend to wait about 15 minutes to let the cleaning mixture disolve any deposits in the main water reservoir and then I turn on the coffee maker and let it process the water/vinegar solution through it.

Once it's done, turn off the coffee maker and discard the solution in the pot. And rinse out the coffee pot/carafe with clean, fresh cold water. Remove and throw away the used paper filter element andrinse out the basket with warm water and put it back on the unit.

Now fill the coffee pot/carafe with fresh, clean water and pour that into the coffee maker's water reservoir. Put in a new, clean, paper filter and turn the unit on and run a plain pot of water. This will help to clean out any remaining residue and clear the unit of the vinegar taste and odor.

Now you're all set to start making fresh tasting coffee again. I always recommend using filtered water for the best tasting coffee, as the taste is a direct result of brewing temperature, water purity, and the coffee you use.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

The coffee maker prematurely turns off at

Hello 1pro8vo2,
This is a common problem with Cuisinarts and is fixable.
I am most familiar with the DCC-1200, but you may be able to solve the problem. The may be an indication that something is plugged up. Open the top of the unit and in one of the corners you should find a water filter stick or column that is removable. Pull it out and open it up to clean out the clogged up carbon filter in there. (You can later buy a new filter on Amazon.) Clean out the debris from the bottom of the cavity. Replace the stick into the cavity once cleaned. Now it's time to run through a solution of 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Do this once or twice with fresh solutions, then with a pot of fresh water. When the filter stick is plugged up the sensor says its time to clean it or shuts the unit down, but most people don't know about this fix. I hope this is helpful to you, evc. Positive feedback is appreciated. Good luck. NormanZ

Coffee not tasting good

To make the self-clean light go off, just unplug the coffeemaker for longer than 20 minutes. As far as not tasting right, did you try flushing the vinegar out of the coffeemaker using plain water, or water mixed with 1 tbsp lemon juice per cup? Also, get rid of your current charcoal water filter - after time, it will disintegrate, and your coffee will have a hint of charcoal.

Dcc-1200 not working

Probably dead, but:

Here is the basic troubleshooting for the Cuisinart coffee makers:
Make sure all baskets are in proper place – especially if unit is beeping.
Do not use a paper and a gold-tone or other permanent filter at the same time.
Unplug for LONGER THAN 15 full minutes to reset.
Clean by brewing 2 oz of distilled white vinegar/2 oz water.
If these methods fail, the unit probably requires replacement – call Cuisinart as they have a longer-than-standard warranty.

Have the Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffee maker. When you begin to brew coffee it brews some of it but leaves the whole filter top full with coffee and coffee grounds. Called then customer service line and...

It sounds like you were using the gold permanent coffee filter in addition to a paper filter. You should use one or the other.

The gold permanent filter must be cleaned between each brewing cycle.

Try this:

1. Remove the filter basket from the coffee machine.

2. Remove the gold permanent coffee filter from the basket.

3. Clean the basket thoroughly. Ensure there are no grounds clogging any holes.

4. Insert a new paper filter only into the basket. Do not use the gold permanent filter for this test.

5. Fill the water reservoir with the desired amount of water.

6. Add the desired amout of coffee grounds into the paper coffee filter.

7. Replace the filter basket into its holder in the coffee machine, and close the water reservoir lid. Press firmly on top where it says, "Press to Close".

8. Ensure the glass carafe is placed correctly in its position on the heating plate.

9. Turn the Function Knob to "BREW", then flip the Power Swich to "ON"

Hope that helps.

Dcc-1200 filter

The filter basket fits in the machine in only one rotational position -
with the lift ring at the 5:30 position and rectangular tab at 12:00 o'clock - precisely!. Only in that position can it be fully seated so
the the cap on the carafe will open the valve at the bottom of the basket. If that valve stays closed, the basket will overflow and
no coffee will go into the carafe.
