SOURCE: Need to remove top cover of GE WPXQ3090T2WW top load washer

There should be 2 screws holding it on at the rear. Looking from the rear these will be at each top corner. Once these are removed push the lid from the front of the machine towards the rear and it will pop off.

SOURCE: removing cover assembly on GE top load washer

Is your washer a GE Profile Harmony? Do you want to know how to take the top off or the top of the agitor (pulsator)? The top of the washer has four screws in the back top behind the screen once you unscrew them the front of the washer has two clips one on each side and you have to kinda tap it with your palm to get them to pop.

When my GE WPRE6100G1WT top load washer is performing normal agitation, there's a load banging noise. I was told it may be the Mode Shifter gone bad. I've checked the counter weight, balance rods, bel

Yup, it's the mode shifter. You're going to need to change out the shaft and modes shifter assembly, along with replacing the tub seal.

You can get all of that with this kit:
Clutch

And, here is the video of how to change it:

Good luck!

This is a simple repair. The main spring may have come loose from the top (need to check the top two springs ny removing top panel. The reaslon it bangs is from the dampeners being broke. Take off the bottom panel and look inside left and right at the bottom to see if the dampeners are broke. Fairly easy repair - takes some muscle. John<!-- from fixya rte -->

Maytag FAV6800AW have replaced clutch and cleaned under tumblers. Machine will not balance. When rotating tumblers entrie drum rotates (during cycle). I removed drum and no leakage out bottom. Does this...

Let?s see if I understand. Are you in a wash/agitate cycle when this happens? If so is the wash basket rotating Clock Wise with the tumblers rotating (washer top raised for observation)? With A Spin Only cycle selected and some clothes in the wash basket. Raise the washer top from the base and observe the wash basket rotation. The wash basket will rotate CCW the spin direction. Do the tumblers rotate while the wash basket is rotating CCW? If so the load will go off balance. What series is your machine it will be the first two digits of your Serial Number i.e. 10 through 17. Was the original clutch replaced because of severe rust of the One-Way Roller clutches/bearing in the clutch Pulley assembly? Do you have the original clutch pulley assembly? Did your machine use the upper the One-Way Roller clutches/bearing ring? Your series number will help me but if you can confirm. I?ll try to help?.Rich

Load off balance error dc. Wont rinse or spin

Hello nikimiguel,

I’m an Owner like you I own the FAV6800AW and have helped many folks on this and other forums with this issue.

You are experiencing a classic malfunction of the One-Way Roller clutch bearings in the Clutch Pulley assembly. It sounds like you are in the early stages of the issue. I have put together a step by step maintenance process to clean up and re-lube the One-Way Roller clutches in the Clutch Pulley assembly see this post Clutch Fix Post for what’s involved. Look on the right top back of your Console. If you can give me the first two numbers of your serial number i.e. 10, 11,12, tru 17. That will let me know if your machine will use an Upper One-Way Roller clutch bearing ring. Mechanical skill sets to perform Clutch maintenance or replacement are basic, anyone can do this it’s just a tight work area. Your option is to DIY or call in a repair service. I would ballpark the repair cost at around $300 if they know what is wrong and how to fix. DIY the fix it and you may need a a can of WD-40 and Slick 59 One Lube cost around $10 if the One-Way Roller just need to be cleaned up and re-lubed. If the Clutch pulley needs to be replaced I will show you a site where you can purchase for around $60 delivered to the house.

See this most recent post of a forum member who is back in service with my process.

Standing by if I can help….Rich aka dh1200s

GE Profile washing machine not finishing cycles

the OL error is for over load.that is when you over load the clothes in the washing machine. If your washer doesn't spin or agitate on either the delicate or regular cycle, check these:

Selector switch
Clutch assembly
Drive motor
Selector switch If your washer has a selector switch on the control panel, make sure the button for your selection is pressed all the way in, or set properly.

Clutch assembly Many GE®/Hotpoint® washers use a clutch and an automatic shift lever. This assembly is quite complicated. If there's a problem with it, you probably should contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Drive motor Many washing machines have multiple-speed drive motors. Though it's uncommon, the drive motor may work fine on one speed but not on another. If the drive motor has failed on one speed, you need to replace the entire motor.

GE Prodigy Washing machine making clunking noise

One common problem area is the clutch assembly. The clutch is built on top of the motor, the motor drives the clutch and the clutch assembly drives the rest of the washer. The clutch gets very noisy when parts inside are worn out. The shoes lining that drives the inner drum of the clutch wear off and you will get a metal on metal sound. Clutches often can be rebuilt, but sometimes they are too worn and replacing the whole clutch is the best repair. Please use this link here for clutch replace and repair info. The belt and pump may be the next items to check for noises. How to access the washer. Clutch repair help.

Washer will not agitate

A wears out clutch might prevent the washer from agitating well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. Good luck!
