Hi,

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Good luck!

The Pythagorean Theorem states for a right triangle

A squared + B squared = C squared

where C is the hypotenuse.

if the hypotenuse is 5cm, then the remaining sides have to be 3cm & 4cm

Also called the 3,4,5 right triangle.

you need at least 2 measurement or 2 angles

Three congruent angles means it is an equilateral triangle, so by definition it has 3 congruent sides. Or, by the Sine Rule of triangles

a/sinA = b/sinB = c/sinC

and since A = B = C (given) then a = b = c.

.

a/sinA = b/sinB = c/sinC

and since A = B = C (given) then a = b = c.

Hi Carolyn

This is easy peasy.

A squared plus B squared = C squared

So, 4 squared (16) + 4 squared (16)= C squared

C= square root of 32 or 5.66

Link below provides a calculator so you can do it yourself.

If I understand your terminology correctly, you have a triangle with a hypotenuse of 6' 3-13/16" and a side opposite the angle you wish to find with a length of 8" (and a side adjacent to the angle you wish to find with a length of 6' 3-3/8") Trigonometry says that the sine of an angle is the length of the opposite side divided by the hypotenuse. (all units must be the same, so convert everything to inches)

So sine (angle) = 8/(6 * 12 + 3 + 13/16)

sine (angle = 8/(75.8125)

sine(angle) = .105523

angle = arc-sine(.105523)

angle = 6.0573 degrees (from tables, calculator, computer etc)

So sine (angle) = 8/(6 * 12 + 3 + 13/16)

sine (angle = 8/(75.8125)

sine(angle) = .105523

angle = arc-sine(.105523)

angle = 6.0573 degrees (from tables, calculator, computer etc)

All triangles have three sides.

There are two main formulas that do not call on trigonometric ratios.

**The classic one**:

*Heron's Formula *if you have the length of the three sides. Let those measures be **a, b,** and** c**.

There are two main formulas that do not call on trigonometric ratios.

- 1. You need the length of a base and it corresponding height (the length of the segment perpendicular to that base and passing through the vertex (summit) opposite to that base.
**Area=(1/2) * (measure of the base)*(measure of the height).**The base and height must be expressed in the same unit.

- Calculate the semi-perimeter p with
**p=(1/2)(a+b+c)** - Area=Square root of
**(p*(p-a)*(p-b)*(p-c))** **a, b, and c must be expressed in the same unit.**

in a 45-45-90 triangle, the lengths of the sides are in a ration, 1:1:√2, so if you have one side of the triangle, such as a leg, with the value in the ratio of 1, simply multiply that given number by √2 to get the hypotenuse, if you're instead given the hypotenuse, simply divide by √2 to get the answer for one of the legs. The legs of a 45-45-90 triangle are equal.

I hope this helps!

1) There is a big difference between Bosch promo manual and Bosch operation manual:

2) Online promo manual says: Combined Indirect/Pythagoras for measuring total height from a distance

http://www.boschtools.com/AboutBoschTools/RequestProductLiterature/Documents/2010%20Catalog%20PDF/2010%20Measuring%20Tools.pdf

3) Online operation manual shows no instructions for Pythagoras measuring.

And shows no button for displaying E value or height.

http://www.engineersupply.com/images/bosch-tools/Bosch_Digital_Distance_Measurer_130k_User_Manual.pdf

4) Operation manual shows:

Length Measurement** and tells you to measure the height while promo says tool will calculate height E

Area Measurement*** shows rectangle only and not triangle

Volume Measurement

Area or Volume

Rounding of Large Calculations

Continuous Measurement (Tracking)

5) I would contact Bosch directly:

6) Until you get satisfaction from Bosch, the Bosch device gives precise menasurements that can be entered into a Pythagorean calculator online, which defeats the purpose of a jobsite tool: But you can access online calculator via cell phone while on jobsite.
