Reinstall the audio driver to see if that does the trick and resolves the issue.

Hi,

Speaker is not working, microphone is working,

first, please download and install the most updated driver from this link- HP support

After that, please restart your computer. What you need to do next is quite simple and would help us diagnose your problem. Plug an earphone to the laptop's plug located usually on one of the laptop's sides. It's usually marked with earphones and the color of the plug is green. Anyhow, please put some songs which you know work well. Then see if you have sound.
If you still do not have any sound, I would like to have some more information on the computer so that I may help you better. Information like what windows do you have, and if you plug speakers to the laptop, and also what kind of files you play with the laptop.

The sound on both my old IBM laptops (T40 & X31) no longer work.

Try pressing the sound up button on the top of the keyborad. There are 3 buttons sound up, sound down and mute. It appears that the sound control on windows is independant of the buttons.

I have no sound on my HP Pavillion laptop

I had the same problem, but now its solved!

Brieftly speaking, my internal speaker stopped producing sound, but when I plug earphones in, there is sound in the earphones.

Just plug in-and-out ur earphones several times (it took me 5 tries) and voila internal speakers work again!

I think there is a mechanical sensor inside the sound output (plug for the earphone) so that once it senses a plug getting in, it shuts internal speaker.

Maybe the mechanical sensor was jammed (spring problem i guess) and it still believe that u have ur earphones plugged-in. "Clogging" the hole for the earphones would allow the spring to spring back to initial position...

Hope it helps

Logitech Speaker Help

Unfortunately, Logitech doesn't sell the wired remote controller separately. And that seems to be infamous for going out.
What worked for me (with no sound and no blue light on the remote connector) was to plug a set of earphones into the earphone port. As soon as I did that, the blue light came on and the sound was restored, even after removing the earphones. Someone else said both speakers worked properly while they had the earphones in, but not otherwise.
