It is caused by either a corrupt OS or a hard drive issue.
Perform diagnostics on hard drive - if it is ok then the OS is to blame - also check your peripherals for proper operation since they can also cause your computer to freeze when one is faulty. Run computer with just memory and hard drive - see what happens. Swap memory chips also.
