SOURCE: my honeywell central heating system turns off on

Hi, Just to let you know I have repaired central Heat & Air systems for 33 years and Have seen this problem on many occasions. Lets see if I can save you so many trips. It says you have a programmable stat? On this stat and on a mechanical stat, they have what is called a heat anticipator that controls how many and how often your thermostat turns you're unit off and on and how long it cycles after the stat is satisfied. If you have ever seen under the cover of a mechanical stat, ( mercury switch type) you will see a dial with an arrow with numbers as .1, .3, .4 1.0, or .15 to 1.0 amps. Some are fixed and some are adjustable. On a digital stat, you will have to get into the program and see what the heat anticipator is set on. They come from the factory at .4, but to really find out what you'res should be it takes an amprobe to do this. The setting you need is what you're gas valve requires.I am sure I have lost you, but I am just giving you a little food for thought. If you can get into you're program and set this to .4, great. If the problem continues, your anticipator on this stat is more than likely, shorted, which would require you to buy a new stat. With a shorted anticipator, it will seem to be working like you say, but when satisfied, the temp.keeps falling until you reset power, then it fires and repeats this. Change the stat. If this is central heat and air, just follow red-rc which will have a red jumper to rh for heat, white to w, green to g=fan, and yellow or blue to y = cooling. If you have central heat only, you will find 2 wires red and white.Red to rh with jumper still installed to rc and then white to w.This is quite a long explanation, but I wanted you to know a little more then the next guy about your stat. Please let me know.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7

SOURCE: Freezer Temp keeps getting too high

Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer2_bing.gif and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

The control that monitors the cutoff temperature may need to be adjusted. Your hetpump may also work effectively at 16 degrees. you have not left any information on the make or model of the heatpump or the thermostat.

Aquarium Heater instructions

Your going to need a thermometer, I suggest the simple kind that's just a sticker changing colors telling you the temp, in expensive and works. Most fresh water fish like 70-76Fdeg water, saltwater fish around 60F. if the thermometer reads too low, just plug it in, turn the temp adjustment knob just until the light comes on, wait for 10-20 mins, check your temp again and repeat steps if your still too low. once set, you shouldn't have to touch it again for a long time. Higher freshwater temps in the 80's stresses the fish out, and makes their metabolism run fast. They will live, but they will also require more feedings. Too low and they will become sluggish. Completely normal. Main thing is to keep them comfortable, don't try to change the temp to quickly. That stresses them as well. 5-10deg change over and hour is usually fine for most fish. The heater is primarily used to prevent a too low temp "below 60F" if you set it to 65, you should be just fine, you house will warm the tank up in the day time in most cases and the cycle in temp helps the fish to determine daytime and nighttime better.

I have an older camper with an coleman mach 3 unit. it runs and cools fine at night. but it the heat of the day the compressor kicks out. after 15 mins. it starts back cooling for 15 mins or so. if i keep...

Have you checked the high and low pressure switches on the unit? If you are cycling on and off, look at your pressure switches to see if they are opening during operation. Also, when was the last time you cleaned out the condensing unit coils with soap/degreaser and clean water?

Heat will not work

Hi, and thank you for the information. You have what they call a 5day 2 day digital Thermostat. It sounds to me that you have the times and temps set. What I would do as these can be complicated to set up, would be to set your heating for all 7 days, instead of different times and temps throughout the day. This can get confusing. You can set the times for cooling Mon -Fri to run from lets say 8:00am to 7:50am and the temp at 78F. You should be able to do this for all 5 days at once. If not,you will have do do it one day at a time. This goes for the 2day(1 and 1)week-end setting also.Switch it to heat now.Do the same with the heat, on at 8:00am, lets say 75F. to 7:50am Your stat will maintain this temp throughout the day and night depending on if you are on heat or cool. You may have a hold temp button on your stat. If so, if you are to cold, you can raise the arrow up for heat and push hold temp and it will keep it at this temp until you change it.I will get this problem solved if we keep communicating like this.It would be even more helpful to me if you can tell me the name of the thermostat, like white Rodgers, Honeywell, Ect. Just take your time and go step by step.At night when you said it was very cold, it may have been the time programming.I hope you can set this up as I have the time set for a 23 hours,50 min program. It should keep the heat setting for that temp and cycle through the night when the t-stat is satisfied. Please let me know if you have anymore questions and Good Luck, Shastalaker7.
ps, you may have a faulty stat, but if it heats at all, it should be the program.

Cold air out of register for about 3 min. until starting to warm

heat pumps generate heat from compressing freon and take a while to generate enough heat to be useful. never expect robust heat from a pump like an oil burner or a gas furnace, but they do heat great and are cheaper to operate. do this . if you are still using an old mercury bulb stat change it to a digital one. this will hold an exact temperature and time off between cycles will be less and the indoor coil will stay warm between short cycles, with an old mercurry stat you set it at 70 and it may run up to 73 and stay off till 68. thats a long off cycle and when call resumes the coil has gotten cold and has to start all over again. also dont wait till it gets cold to run a heat pump. turning it on and off as it gets cold is not correct. you should select a temp ,usually 71 for heat and set it and leave it on to do its thing.you may want to check the charge. hot gas discharge is usually 100 degreees hotter than outdoor temps after 15 minutes run time. for example if its 40 outside the big freon line outside thats insulated should be about 140 degrees. or you can run it 15 minutes and grab it with your hand . it should be almost uncomfortable to hold any length of time. careful some get quite hot. you also have the option of hooking up the electric strip to automatically come on if you push the stat up 2 degrees hotter than the temp in the room. that way you get heat pump and strips till temp gets within 2 degrees of set point and the strips shut off and pump maintains.good luck

vulcan bonaire comfort control External natural gas electronic ignition 2004. ISSUE: Fan blowing only cool air continuously. Forced to kill power to stop it. model is one of the following. MB514E,20E or 30E. Going by mech drawing parts list. i can confirm what type of sensors i have cleaned with very fine sandpaper. flame sensor PN 5441603SP and IGNITER ELECTRODE PN 5441602SP The fault code i see is described as the following. There are x4 LED's. Sequence Left to Right. LEGEND: 1 Flame Sensor 2 Pressure switch 3 OverTemp 4 Diag. R Red G Green S Solid Colour B Blinking LED Behaviour. In order 2RS & 4GS Until i hear ignition. 2RS & 3RB Duration: split second 2RB,3RS & 4GB Duration: split second 3RS & 4GB Duration: Until it has completed blinking x4 times. 3RS Duration 4 seconds Repeat last two mentioned behaviour. in my own opinion, as a safety feature, the unit thinks that it has overheated or is about to. so kills the gas and force feeding cool air to heating components to save it from frying. Does this mean i have fault 04 if so does this mean i may have a faulty igniter or flame sensor or maybe a faulty as described in the mech drawing SWITCH OVER TEMPERATURE 120 degrees celsius. Am i correct here? Is this the over temperature cut out switch? if no one can really pinpoint which part requires replacement, can you at least, in sequence advise which parts to purchase? so then ill just try my luck. i wonder how to properly test if flame sensor, igniter, over temp etc is faulty with a multimeter. do i just perform a continuity test. I wonder what other parts can i test related to this fault im getting.
