How do I reduce the size of the .pdf files I make when I scan a document on my HP Officejet J4580? I get 15 page .pdfs sent to me that are half a mg in total size, but my docs, scanned at B&W or...

Hi, Brice,

Do not change anything with resolution.

After selecting Scan to PDF, click on Advance Option. Here in the new window which opens at the top you can see PDF as selected. Beside this "Options" button will be there. Click on it and a slider will appear. It will be at maximum. so you need to move the slider to minimum or closer to that and click OK Try scanning.

This will reduce the file size. This should be helpful

Sean

Keyboard

Keyboards on Windows computers can repeat letters when key press sensitivity is too high. This problem can be rectified by adjusting your keyboard's repeat frequency. Once this is lowered, key presses will occur slower and you will not have the letters repeated instantly.

Click"Start," then "Control Panel." Click "Hardware and Sound," followed by "Keyboard." Move the "Repeat delay" slider further to the left below the "Character repeat" option. The further left the slider moves, the longer the delay will be before a character repeats.

Dell laser mfp 1815 dn "scanner locked" message

When you lift the scanner lid look to the left bottom. you should see a green slider button. If you stick your hand in the output tray and get it rigth under the green slider you will find a lever. Move that thing backwards or forwards, that is your unlocker.

Trying to find a schematic assistance to an error reported "system error 86:01" for my hp designjet 800.

System Error: 86:01
Problem
Description:
Carriage-Axis shutdown.
Corrective Action: If this error code appeared but was NOT caused by a paper jam, then
try the following:
Too much friction in the Slider Rod. Enter the Printer Information
utility (→ Page 4-26) and check the Scan-Axis usage. If the
percentage is close to 100%, then lubricate the Slider Rod.
The Carriage is bumping into the Service Station. If the carriage
is stuck at the right hand side of the Printer and cannot be moved
out to the center of the Print Platen it is because the Service
Station cannot uncap the Printheads. In this case replace the
Service Station/Aerosol Fan Assembly → Page 8-52.
Perform the Carriage Movement test → Page 4-8. Okay this is the error code direct from the service manual. if lubricating the slider rod does not resolve this issue then you have other problems. more than likely the carriage belt is in need of replacement. check inside of printer for debris. check under the carriage assembly. see if you are able to move the carriage assembly smoothly from side to side. hope this helps.

Why is my memory card locked? How to rectify and delete pictures

Hi Aruna_Devana,
When you say locked do you mean "write protected?" If you look on the left side of the card there may be a notch in the card and a slider. Move the slider forward to cover the notch and you should now be able to use the card. If the slider moves back to 'lock' when you insert it into your camera, put on a bit of sticky tape, just enough to hold it in place, being careful not to cover any contacts on the card. Hope this helps.

Mark.

Scanner makes knocking noise after starting

That normally means that the imaging mechanism has shifted off of the tracks that it moves on when it scans your document. This is usually something that is covered under warranty if you still have one. If not, you may have to pay to get it repaired or replaced. This is not something that is easily fixed if you aren't familiar with scanner components.
