SOURCE: sanyo dvw 5000 setup

If you rabit ears have a ribbon cable you will need a coax adaptor. Radio Shack carries them. If you cant find them, you might have to get a set of rabit ears that has coax wires. The antenna will plug into the cable in of the DVR. You take the coax output and plug that into the tv using a coax wire.

SOURCE: Swtiching to Digital tv

If you are connected to Cable TV service you are probably already setup, but here are a few things to check for.

  1. From the Menu, make sure the tuning band is set to Cable and not to Air or Antenna.
  2. From the Menu perform an Auto Channel Search.
That should be all you need to do.
Now if you want the best High Definition picture, believe it or not you will need an Antenna, depending on your location you will be able to pick up OTA (over the air) channels in the purest form.
I can help you with this also, let me know. Lone99star Please rate this solution.

Cable box is plugged into denon's hdm1, but I can't get a picture. Hdm1 out monitor (arc) is plugged to TV hdm1 in (arc).

Power up all components. Select the HDMI 1 input on the Denon amp, and the HDMI 1 input on the TV. Additionally, run the old analog cables between the cable box and the TV. If no picture, select the input on the TV that is associated with the analog input from the cable box. You should have a picture at this point - but it will be a standard definition type. Check the settings on the cable box to change the output from "A / V" to Digital on the HDMI jack - if present. You may have better luck unplugging power / replugging in the cable box first - or calling the cable company if you can't find settings for this. Once you have the output of the cable box to HDMI, select HDMI on the TV. If you still don't have it working - try bypassing the Denon and go directly into the TV from the cable box. Try it with BOTH HDMI cables. Also - try different inputs and out puts (HDMI 2, HDMI 3, etc.). Discard any HDMI cable that fails to show video and play audio.

How should hdm1 cord go between tv and DVD player

If the dvd player has an hdmi output, insert 1 end of the cable there and the other end of the cable insert it behind the tv into the hdmi input. Just make sure that both dvd and tv have hdmi to hook up both together .

When I hook my tv up to cable I get no signal, if I just hook it up with antenna it works fine. How do I get my tv to work with my cable cord? Would be nice to view cable channels instead of just 3...

nialbert,

It sounds like you are hooking the cable to the wrong input (digital instead of analog) or you do not have an analog input. If you do not have an analog input you could run the cable through a VCR to convert the signal to a separate audio/video signal and send it to the TV via an auxillary input. Without the model number I can't give you much more help.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

you will either need a converter box (which hooks up with a normal coax cable in the rear of the tv) or cable/satalite tv hooked up to it in order to get a signal

No signal

This problem requires you to test both the monitor and the signal input form you cable tv setup. Set the monitor up on a computer and see if it works properly. If it does then you may have a problem with the signal conversion of the cable tv to the monitor. It also could be a weak signal that drops below the monitors sensitivity levels. Have your cable tv repairman check the signal levels on your lines. Another way to test this is to hook up is with a different monitor to test your setup and see if it works. If after testing you find, the monitor does not work properly, then you need to have it serviced. Hope This Helps.
