Go to system manager to reformat the hard drive
make sure that you know what you are doing because formatting a hard drive means that everything ( operating system, files folders) --everything is lost for good
better is you find the disc repair section in the manager section and use that and not the format section or return to a previous date before the problem and reinstall to that date

You should be talking to Toshiba support, It could be a bad hard drive having trouble with sectors lost and access. Same as in computers. The way to eliminate hard drive errors is to do a low level format but that just maps the bad sectors into the bad sector table. When the drive starts to fail like this then it is time to not try and fix it as it will continue on this path as the errors migrate across the media disc but to replace it. Low level format is just putting off the failure until the errors become too many to deal with. Probably a Seagate drive- you don't buy them you only rent them for a small time. I stopped buying then at all. Made in China is all you need to know.

Why does error code 8001002f appear when formatting disk ?

Remove and reinstall it, if it still gives the error code it means the hard drive is bad or going bad. That error code means the Ps3 can't read the hdd or certain sectors of the hdd. Best to always use a new hdd when replacing the hdd in your Ps3 anyways. I'd a hdd dies andyou haven't backed it up you lose aall your game saves and anything that is not tired to a psn account.

You can run ChkDisk utility to fix Bad sectors on the hard drive(If its fixable).
This utility actually marks the bad sectors on the Hard drive and Isolate from the being accessed thats why 33% of HDD space is unreadable.(Which is very high)
There is no option to fix this HDD, so suggest you to replace it with a new one.
Hope this helps Let me know if you have any query on this.

Remove the bad sector from samsung sp0411n

Although A format could help it sounds more like you have some bad sectors on the harddrive.

Right click on the drive, select properties, then select the tools menu and initiate a disk check. it will give you an option screen before it proceeds, select the option to scan for a recover bad sectors/clusters. This will write off and mark the bad sectors so they will not be used again. If the problem comes back again soon then your palette media is failing and you should replace the drive.

Good luck and let us know how you make out,

Chris

Seagate sata hdd error

Quick format removes files from the partition, but does not scan the disk for bad sectors, while a normal format does that. That's why the formatting takes so much longer.
You should definitely check your drive for bad sectors by issuing "chkdsk /r" in the command line, which scans for and attempts the recovery of bad sectors.

If there is a bad sector somewhere, your system might crash at any time and it might be at a very inconvenient moment.
If you find bad sectors, you should consider replacing the drive

I suggest puting your hdd on another computer, full format it again, and scan it for bad sectors. Also, searching for a program that repairs bad HDD sectors, the windows default erros scan could not be very helpful if there are many bad sectors.

Hdd bad sectore problim

bad sectors are not fixable as far as hard drives go.
you mmight find software that claims ti fix bad sectors but the claim is false as they only temporarily overwrite the sectors and unmark the bad and remark to good but the problem remains to be the sectors are bad.
The best thing to do is to replace the hard drive with a good used one or a new one.

Sorry but as a technician I know what bad sectors are and what happens when you get them.

Harddisk Bad sector & not detecting

Hi, If your partitioning and/or formatting program is already reporting "bad sectors", then your best bet is to replace the hard drive. The mere presence of bad sectors indicates drive problem which in the normal course of time/usage would increase and eventually make the drive inoperable. Using such a drive as your "C" and/or to contain mission critical files may not be to your advantage. Hope this be of some idea/help. Good luck and kind regards.

SATA 80GB Seagate HDD

When your 80GB SATA Seagate HDD complains of bad sectors while booting, this is a sign of a failing hard drive. Today's hard drives will actually self-correct a certain amount of bad sectors before you get any kind of error message. If you are getting "bad sector" errors, this is because the drive has so many problems that it can no longer self-repair. You asked if this may have happened because you have formatted the drive many times. No, bad sectors was not caused by formatting. Your drive did not become "dead slow" because of the formatting. It became slow because your cpu now has to do much more processing to "work around" the bad sectors on the drive. You also asked if you could recover your hard drive to normal state. Please understand that once a drive shows bad sectors, it will not be long before the drive fails completely, at which point you will no longer be able to access anything at all on the drive. No, this drive cannot be recovered. Instead, you should save all the data you can from this drive, and you should do this as soon as possible, before it fails altogether.
