I have had 3 different testers seeing I have high blood pressure. It seems to me your getting a reading from the wrong area on the machine. Work on batteries or plug in? The battery type must have strong batteries, and not junk batteries. You should get batteries you can charge, and a charger, like I said they need to be strong and that will save you money, and keep them up all the time. It seems your batteries are low already by the reading your giving me. It should say at least 130 and around90 depending on your pressure. Those numbers are not right, there is no converting those numbers, something is wrong, try the batteries. If you don't by a charger buy atleast Panasonic batteries or a good set of batteries, okay, good luck, Frankie!

Nevertheless, the panel makes these general recommendations for people over age 80:
  • A target systolic blood pressure (the first or top number in a two-number blood-pressure reading) should be 140 to 145 if the patient tolerates the side effects of treatment.
  • Patients should not have a systolic blood pressure below 130 or a diastolic blood pressure (the second or bottom number) below 65.
  • For very elderly patients whose high blood pressure doesn't come down with initial treatment, the combination of a type of blood pressure **** known as a RAAS blocker, a calcium antagonist, and a water pill is often effective.
  • Very elderly patients may benefit from lifestyle changes that lower blood pressure:losing weight, reducing salt in the diet, drinking less alcohol, and taking up the DASH diet.

Dia

The diastolic blood pressure number or the bottom number indicates the pressure in the arteries when the heart rests between beats. A normal diastolic blood pressure number is less than 80. A diastolic blood pressure between 80 and 89 indicates prehypertension.

My husband took his blood pressure and an E appeared for Sys reading. We could not get it to operate correctly. Why?

E appeared because the monitor was not able to read his blood pressure. I have the same problem myself if I take my blood pressure after sitting down for a while because my pulse rate is 40 beats per minute and the monitor is set to expect a higher reading. If his pulse rate is too low the monitor thinks it's not reading it properly.

It could also be unable to read his blood pressure because the sensor was not pressed against his pulse. Try moving it around a little. Also it's a good idea to check the monitor on a second person as there could be a fault in the monitor itself.

I hope this helps.

How I can test the accuracy of the Wlagreen blood pressure monitor

If you don't have highly accurate static pressure meter and BPM simulator you are not able to fully test the accuracy of a BPM. However, the simple way to test it is use the same human body to compare the Dia. & Sys. result you got from this walgreen mahine and the traditional manual mercury type BPM.

Sys 105 normal?

Hi littlegurl74,
the normal Blood pressure is 120 sys(Systolic) over 80 diastolic.
105 sys is low. but if that is your normal sys and your not having any signs of hypotension like dizziness it is fine then. Consult your physician if you have any problems.
thanks.

When the pressure comes up on the monitor the top number was reading EE. It did it three times. I can't find the instructions. The machine is an Omron model: 741CREL. Thanks.

EE=Cuff under-inflated=not inflated enough. While cuff is inflated, keep pressing START button until pressure reaches 15-20 mmHg higher than the pressure when it stops and displays EE. Make sure at least 5 min allowed between readings.
