You should see something on the screen if just the backlights were out, do you have sound?...Measure the voltage going to the LED lamps and see what you have there...It should be somewhere around 100 volts give or take

Samsung TV (model UN40H6203AF) 40" LED. No picture, have sound. Flashlight test can see faint menu screen. Have replaced power supply & main boards to this point. Ideas as to what to do next?

Hi Terry,

If you can see the faint picture in flash light means the power supply and the main board is working. The real culprit is the backlight. Even one bad LED in the backlight will switch off the whole array. To repair this fault the panel has to be opened and the defective LED or LEDs are to be replaced.

This is a complicated, delicate and risky job and must be attempted by an expert only. You may end up damaging the screen permanently if you have not done it before and try to DIY.

LG 42LN5400-UA.BUSYLHR back lights not working, sound working, flashlight test shows video working.

This is a common problem for LG 42LN5xxx & 47LN5xxx LED TVs, the problem is defective LED back lights strips, it has nothing to do with main power supply & the main board.

My LG tv (Model number: 32LS3410-UB) has sound, but no picture. When I do the flashlight test I can see a very dark image on the screen. Will replacing the LED driver fix this problem?

If you already tested with the flashlight which is the first step in the blank screen with sound fault then you have to test the LED Backlight supply voltages if you are familiar and good in the electronic repair. First you have to check if bulging capacitors for the LED Backlight drive voltage circuit, replace them. If capacitors are good then you have check the backlight LEDs. The flashlight test proves that the power supply is good and TV is working fine because the sound is ok and picture is fine. Attached videos and links may help you for the repair and replacement of backlight LED strips or LEDs itself depending on the type of LED strips used in your model.

Tv has sound but no picture, nothing shows with the flashlight test, all inputs have sound but no picture, installed a new t-con card with no results ?

Use a voltmeter to verify the different voltages on the power supply board are present within tolerance. Look for discolored , puffy or domed capacitors. Repair kits and complete replacement boards can be had from: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

No picture on mu LG television.

Try the old flashlight test, turn off the lights in the room. Turn on the set and flash a bright flashlight on the screen. Do you see the image or is the screen totally black?? If you see the image, then most likely you have a backlight problem. Verify that you have 24V on the power supply for the inverter
