SOURCE: canon mp160 prienter alarm light ,power light is blinking&lcd is keep on chngng the nos

I just helped my daughter fix hers by following these instructions I found elsewhere - it worked. Make sure you wait until the light stops blinking to push 'reset' 4 times. Also - lots of people reported small objects obstructing the cartridge - make sure that is not the case first.

1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal..

SOURCE: my canon pixma mp140 error 2 and the alarm light

try to reset your printer ---

How to reset the Canon MP150 after a refill (Step 10 concerns refill; instructions below the steps):
Method1 (Safe Factory Method):
1) Disconnect the printer’s power outlet
2) Press and hold the power button while connecting the power outlet back.
3) While still holding down the power button, press the reset button twice.(red circle with a triangle)
4) Release the power button
The printer takes about 10 seconds to show the number 0.
5) Press + to change the value from 0 to 1.
6) When this value is 1, press colour button; this will light up two leds.
One is for plain paper and the other for photo paper. At this point is feed the printer with paper.
7) Press the power button twice and the printer will print a some stuff (if it doesn't print by itself, then press the "color" button once and the test sheet will print). Don’t worry much about the printed material. I got some stripped lines and some numbers. I believe that my colour cartridge is clogged which is why I got the green strips.
When you print this sheet the value in the display returns to zero.
8 ) Open the printer cover cover (not the scanner cover) and remove the cartridges. With the printer still open, disconnect the power outlet.
9) Close the lid and turn on the printer.
10) Refill cartridges and place them back in their nice little abode in the printer.

My canon mp250 is showing a E16 error and has the alarm constant orange and the B blinking. I tried removing and replacing the cartridges but it did not help. I cannot scan either.

Error No. E16 is caused by Ink has run out / cartridge must be reset.
To solve the problem here is your solution:
Press the STOP / Reset for 5 - 15 seconds wait until the led display process.

The manual says: " 'P, 0, 3' is displayed: If any object is placed in front of the machine, remove it. Open the Paper Output Tray gently, then turn the power off and back on."
If this doesnt work you need to contact the canon service center, you can find all of the information on their Webpage

How to fix error code 5200 on canon printer MP258? what is 5200 mean?

Here's the procedure. This code is normally encountered after refilling an ink cartridge and replacing the cartridge. Turn off printer. Hold down Stop/Reset button with one hand and turn printer on with other hand. After green light comes on for the ON button, press the Stop/Reset button two times and you should see the green light blink off and the orange alarm light blink "on" with the first press and then the green light comes back on for the power button and the orange light goes off with the second press (if you did it correctly). Now, you need to hold down the ON button about five seconds, then let go to shut OFF the printer. When you turn it back on, the printer should be back to the factory original condition. Make sure you set all your printer properties the way you want them again from your printer properties dialog boxes because some of the settings may have been stored in the printer's EEPROM, which you just reset to get rid of the offending alarm code.

They are great printers once you learn this reset technique.
Try this first. By resetting the EEPROM, you may be able to clear the alarm and resume printing. This is a cheap printer and it is EASILY FOOLED by it's own internal software. I had to send a brand new one right back to the manufacturer because it was already throwing a fake code when it was first unwrapped.

Canon mp250, not printing. Print screen says "creating print data" and freezes there.

This sounds like an internal memory problem and I don't have a workaround. Before you give up, try this technique to reset the printer to factory. It is one of two things.

a bad ink cartridge (the chip located on the gold part of it)
or
bad USB cable.

IF you have a spare cable simply change them out.

If you are refilling your cartridges, it is time to replace them.
