SOURCE: I need Alpine Air XL-15 Air Purifier Repair service

Best bet is to call EcoQuest at 1-800-989-2299 and they can direct you to the closest repair center.
There is also a way to upgrade to a newer model the FreshAir 2.1 getting $100 back for your old XL-15.
To do this go to www.healthylivingia.com or call 1-800-798-6925 and ask for Eric.

SOURCE: Round Metal Disk type thing in Alpine Living Air XL-15

Hi Chipster7_20,

It sounds like the little round electrical spade terminal is what has broken off. If you aren't comfortable working with electrical (this is a fairly high-voltage environment, BTW), you might want to find a local electrical repairman to replace and re-attach it. EcoQuest no longer does support for XL15s, so it's up to little independent dealers/handymen like yours truly to keep these machines going. You could ship it to me, but it would probably cost more for shipping than having a local do the work.

If I mis-understood your description, please write back with more details. If you could reply with a digital picture it would help. (use the little tree-picture icon in the toolbar above to post it).

If I can be of further assistance, or if you have questions about any of my response(s), please let me know before rating me.

If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly. My goal is to earn a "FixYa" rating from everyone I help.

Thanks for using Fixya.com,

SOURCE: Where can I take my XL-15 air purifier to have it

Did you get an answer to this? I have one too that needs to be cleaned. I'm in Atlanta. I paid a lot of money for this thing used and it has never worked. I go t no satisfaction from ebay and now am stuck with it, out $150 and it seems too complicated for me to ever get it working myself and I surely don't want to spend $179 to ship it somewhere else to be repaired.. Don't know what to do.

XL 15 won't run at all? By checking all the connections, look at each component to make sure the machine is assembled so as to activate all of the safety features.
1) The back screen needs to be inserted so that the tab depresses the interior safety switch in the slot. You'll be able to hear it click. Wiggle the screen if the little tab seems loose. Some need to be inserted down on top of the switch, others need to push the switch back. Try both ways.
2) Have you checked the fuse? It's the little round knob on the back right corner. If it is blown, replace it with the EXACT same size, available from an auto parts store.
3) Is the wall socket live? (I know, that sounds totally stupid! But you'd be surprised at how often the wall socket is dead! (Often turned off by a switch somewhere else.)
4) If there's a switch on the far right side (some have this feature, some don't), set it to "Manual" and leave it there. The "auto" feature sometimes is deactivated or stops working.
5) Make sure the switch on the front is "On."
6) Try turning the knobs to different settings. Sometimes the lower settings are too low to activate the machine.
7) Make sure the plates are inserted firmly and correctly, in the grooves top and bottom. Make sure the contact fingers press firmly on the screen part of each side.
8) Inspect the inside of the machine carefully, looking for any wiring that is obviously loose, corroded, frayed, broken, disconnected. Fix it if you can, or take it to an electronics person.
Hope this helps. If none of these troubleshooting steps helps, you can call Vollara (new name for Alpine/EcoQuest) and they

I have a Living Air XL-15 purifier which was taken apart for cleaning and repair. I am now trying to put it back together and have one part that I do not remember where it goes. It is a metal needle-like...

That's a needle-point ionizer, should thread into a little arm/fitting in the fairing forward/front of the fan blades. The red wire (high voltage) should attach to this little arm (probably with a spade terminal). It provides the high-power ionization used to attract particulate air pollutants out of the air.

How do I clean the inside of my Alpine Air? Not

If it's an XL-15 or Classic, there are four screws through the bottom that hold the main chassis in-place. But first:

1) Unplug the unit, and remove the lint filter in back.

2) You'll need to remove the power switch (carefully pry out with a screwdriver or putty knife), disconnect the spade terminals (note which wires attach to which terminals), and remove the knobs for Fan and Ozone controls.

3) Remove the four screws. As the chassis slides out the back, you'll need to disconnect the spade terminals to the fan motor as well.

Clean thoroughly, make sure everything is re-assembled with good connections in reverse-order. Be particularly careful to leave any sensors clean and connected.

A broken switch on a small portable ozone machine--X-15 or XL

Hi again, epyn,

As I think about this more, I'd say that the switch you have would probably _not_ work. What you have is somewhat like a conventional 3-way switch. With the Alpine/Ecoquest switch, I suspect one terminal is for power to the internal light/LED, one is the load to the switch, and the third would be the ground for both.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know - I'd like to resolve this for you. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it accordingly.

Thanks in-advance for using Fixya.com,

Bottom small plastic covered screw is a trigger for interlock switch, won't work if it doesn't push in the metal trigger.

Also make sure the safety interlock switch is properly closed when re-assembled. It's the springloaded switch inside the little notch in the chassis - the small tab on the lint screen should fit in and push that switch closed. If you do it wrong, the unit won't work. You should hear an audible click when the tab closes the switch.
