Are you saying that your machine is still covered under Warranty but Lenovo won't help you? How did the DVD break? If you tip coffee or step on it then fair enough. What was the reason they gave you for not solving the problem?

3 of my numbers no longer work. How do I fix this?

First you need to confirm if you are still under warranty and call the Lenovo Consumer Support Hotline at 1-877-453-6686 and ask for the warranty information of your system. If you are lucky and your machine is under warranty then Lenovo will service your machine free of charge. You can also check the warranty of your machine at and enter your serial number.

If you are aware that you are currently out of warranty then there is two option for you:
First, You can have Lenovo repair the keyboard and with that, there will be service charge for replacement.

Second, If you are comfortable on replacing the keyboard on your own, You can contact Lenovo and purchase a keyboard for your Lenovo Y510 on the same number. They will charge you for less than $60 overall.

How to remove dvd drive from lenovo y510.

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya!

Optical drive in your Lenovo Y510 is not a customer replaceable unit (CRU), so I would strongly recommend for you to contact their helpdesk. The link to their consumer support can be found below :

Lenovo Helpdesk

Also, I have included the site where you can view (and download) the user's manual specifically for this computer. It does not have anything regarding dis-assembly but I'm quite sure it will be of a help :

Dvd drive removal

Hello There and Welcome to Fixya,

Your optical drive (dvd drive) is not a "Customer Replaceable Unit" (CRU) following Lenovo's service standards. What I recommend instead, is for you to contact their helpdesk through phone. Here's the link for their consumer support for further guidance :

Lenovo Support

It will provide you with options and more knowledge about your Y510.

I hope this helps, Thank you for using FixYa.

Y510 uses the slot loading DVD, right? It's not software problem... that Matsushita DVD drive on Y510 and Y410 are faulty... they work only for a few months then always have trouble burning. I've seen many complaints on Lenovo support forum... I'm having the same problem with my Y410 too... I had to use USB to install Windows 7.

Lenovo Y510 screen is loose, how do I tighten? thank you

to tighten your screen you just have to fix few screws.

bt i wont suggest you to do it yourself if you dont have some prior expeience in it.

if the system is under warranty just call the customer care and they will do it for free.

if not just go to the nearest lenovo center and they will do it in few minutes.

if you find the solution useful plz rate me carefully

Touch pad is not working properly

most likely your touch pad is just damaged. you might have to send it in for repairs so back up all your important info and try to check the warranty and see if your cover. Call the place where you bought it and see what they can do. Best of wishes
