This is probably to do with security permissions. I don't have a copy of IE8 in front of me at the moment but if you go into your security settings. Something like Tools -> Internet Options -> Security Tab -> Trusted Sites -> Sites Button, You can add yahoo to your list of trusted sites. Mind you this will mean that you will be trusting anything that comes from Yahoo. I'm not sure you want to do that. Depends on how much you like playing pool I guess :)

Let me know if this helps and don't forget to sling me a vote if it does :)

Try to disable the pop up blocker in Internet Explorer 8.

Click on the Tools menu located far right hand side of your browser's Tab Bar.

In the drop-down menu, select the Pop-up Blocker option.

A sub-menu will appear. Click on the option labeled Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.

My computer has been slammed with a Google home page when I had a Yahoo home page and was very happy with it-why?

You probably installed some software and allowed that software (such as Adobe Reader) to install the Google Toolbar.

Close Internet Explorer
Open "Control Panel"
Open "Add/Remove Programs"
Select "Google Toolbar"
Uninstall it
Start Internet Explorer
Change the "home" page back to 'www.yahoo.com'.
