Generic problem for all Flat Panel Televisions

I just recently bought a Vizio from Costco and them HD channels picture is clearer than my Phillips Ambilight 42". It almost seems that when the HD channels are on the Phillips that it is not in HD. The Phillips is about 2 years old and the Vizio is brand new. Is it possible that the picture is better in the Vizio or is something wrong that I don't know about

Also, the Phillips is hooked up to the same cable box that the Vizio was. The Phillips has not been used much.
