Is your fan blowing in the freezer? Frost on the back wall of the freezer usually indicates a defrost problem... defrost themostate, heaters, take back panel off and check evap for frost build up and if your fan in working.

YES , you need to replace the thermostat timer,its a device that operates like every 30 min or so applying heat thru a black element to keep the freezer from not building up ice . hope this helps AJ

I had a very similar problem with our GE refrigerator. The main control board looked to be the culprit. I took out the board and did a visual inspection. Upon inspection I discovered that the (2) 470 micro farad capacitors were blown. I checked the power diode near these and it was still ok. I went to Radio Shack and picked up two 470 micro farad - 35V capacitors for and grand total of $2.60 and resoldered them myself. The refrigerator has been running great since.
