Question about Creda Ovens

1 Answer

My Creda Reflection double oven keeps tripping the oven fuse when I turn it on? It doesn't trip straight away, it works for a minute or so and then trips the fuse. Any ideas?

The cooker is at least 12 years old, it was here when we moved in, and it has already had the heating element in the main oven replaced. Is it worth looking at repairing it or should I just replace it?

Call an electrician to check the circuit insulation for shorts
could be vermin cooked across electrical terminals , failing insulation, grease /fat across terminals
dead shorts trip the breaker immediately, ground leakage problems take a little longer

Many thanks for replying. It doesn't trip straight away. I just tried it again and it tripped after eight minutes. What would cause the delay in tripping?

    still call the electrician
taking so long to trip indicates that there is excessive current draw through the breaker up near the max current allowed before it trips
for example if it is a 10 amp circuit breaker , current at 8.5, 9,9.5 amps will trip the breaker as those figures is within the permissible current to operate the breaker even though it is below the 10 amp rating
that problem could be in current leakage through insulation , the breaker is weak or the breaker is not of sufficient amperage to handle the current load example instead of the fitted 10 amp , it might have to be 15 amp
again the electrician will be able to advise of the reason

A friend has suggest it could be faulty thermostat that is deliberately shorting out as a safety precaution.

If the fan is running, then it is safe to say that the oven element has gone.

SOURCE: Oven tripping

Hello,
Was the oven tripping the the fuse before the element was replaced, also did you take the oven out to do element because the element can be done with cooker in place it may be that you pulled out the connections block at rear of unit and it is touching body.If tripping before replacement the fault could be any where on the oven. You will have to check it through.

My creda cooker lost power when I turned on the grill but did not trip the main fuse and there is still power at the main swtch

Is it a built-in model? If it is then there is sometimes a wall plug in a cupboard that may have a fuse in it.

Bosch HBN7052 - main fuse tripping even after replacing the heating element

It appears there is too much current (electricity) being drawn towards the element, seeing once you replaced it, it worked fine for 5 minutes and then tripped again...I believe the problems lies within the wiring going towards the element, or the thermostat that controls the amount of current coming towards the element. Instead of turning off at a desired temperature, its not and continuing to heat up to the point of tripping the fuse. Try replacing the thermostat.

Electrolux EOU5330X Ultrafan Electric Double Oven -

Sounds to me like the lower element shorted and tripped the breaker as it burned out. If you're handy at electrical troubleshooting that's where I'd start - comparing ohmmeter readings between the bad element and the one that works.

A wire short to the chassis would have a similar set of symptoms and be easier to find and fix.

Beyond that, you need a service tech.

Hi can you help me my when i turn it on it reached temperature then triped. Reset the trip switch turned the oven on again and within couple of minuets it happened again. We turned it off and have not used...

Prob your cooling fan...it comes on to keep the appliance at a constant temp and if it doesnt it will trip out. Try turning on ur grill and you should hear the fan come on straight away, if not then you will need to replace it.

Hope that helps.

Recently wired a double oven with isolator switch

Hi, there's definitely a electrical problem.
First, use the bottom oven only for about 15 minutes and check if it doesn't trip.
Second, use just the grill (top oven) for about 15 minutes and check if it doesn't trip.
The reason is sometimes grill elements are corroded and only trip after a few minutes.
Also, if both ovens work ok on their own, then it could be your fuse box not strong enough, or the isolator switch fuse be only 13amp. If your oven is more than 3Kw (check the label on the door for info) then you need a 30amp fuse to hold when both ovens are on.
Cheers
