You have to download and install both the driver for your printer and the software. MP Navigator is software that your printer uses, not the driver.
Go to Canon page support for your printer.
Start here: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=DownloadIndexAct
If you don't find your printer in the product menu, type your printer model (for instance, MP140) directy in the search window at the top center of the page, select 'Consumer Products' in the listbox next to it and click on the 'Search' button.
On the destination page, click on the 'Drivers & Downloads' link.
Then, under the 'Drivers & Downloads' tab :
Do not connect the printer to the computer untill the driver is installed. Do it only after the driver is installed or if and when the installation program instructs you to do so.
Only then install the software.
