How to open bonnet on Suzuki Wagon R (2004) - cable broken!

If the cable is broken at the release handle cut the outer cable sheath back and grip the inner cable with a pair of locking "Visegrip" pliers and pull. It often helps if someone pushes down on the hood over the latch location to release tension on the latch. If the cable is broken at the latch you will need a car lift to get at it to release it.

ADJUSTMENTS
sourced from another forum

The park interlock cable is part of the brake/shift lever interlock system. Correct cable adjustment is important to proper interlock operation. The gear shift and park lock cables must both be correctly adjusted in order to shift out of PARK.

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

1. Remove floor console as necessary for access to the park lock cable.

2. Shift the transmission into the PARK position.

3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Be sure ignition key cylinder is in the LOCK position. Cable will not adjust correctly in any other position.
NOTE: If the key will not turn to the LOCK position, pull up on the cable lock button and manually move the cable in and out until the key can be turned to the LOCK position.

4. Pull cable lock button up to release cable, if necessary.

5. Remove and discard the cable adjuster lock pin, if a new cable is being installed.

6. Ensure that the cable is free to self-adjust by pushing cable rearward and releasing.

7. Push lock button down until it snaps in place. The lock should be 1-2mm below the surface of the cylindrical portion of the cable

How can I reset totally?

Hi there,

Your question seems to be lacking in specifics but I think I know what you're looking for .

To completely re-set all systems on your car
1. Make sure vehicle is off
2. Disconnect the battery cables
3. Remove the battery and store it somewhere dry
4. leave the battery disconnected overnight
- This allows the capacitors to completely discharge
5. Re-connect the battery the next morning

Hope this is what you need!

My XJR 400 battles to start when cold

Hi, Rowen and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or have an improper gap or are partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition.
3. Battery damaged or nearly discharged, should have 12.5 volts.
4. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Throttle controls not adjusted correctly.
6. Water or dirt in the fuel system.
7. Water or dirt in the carburetor.
8. Faulty fuel pump.
9. Intake air leak.
10. Fuel tank vent hose and vapor valve plugged, or fuel line closed off, restricting fuel flow.
11. Enricher valve inoperative.
12. Engine lubricant to heavy (winter operation).
13. Ignition is not functioning properly (possible sensor failure).
14. Faulty ignition coil.
15. Valves sticking.

Update :
The problem is on sensor's cable contacts (pins).
It seems that when the machine is working, the vibration "disconnects" the cable from the sensor.
I tried to clean contacts (pins) many times, but the problem reappeared after 2 or 3 weeks. So, I cut a little piece of sensor's plastic case to expose its contacts (pins) and solder directly the cable to sensor's contacts. This method solved the problem months ago.

Bonnet release cable has snapped how do i get into the engine bay to fit a new one?

it depends where the cable snapped. it it snapped near the opener just get a vice grip plier grip the cable and pull. the cable passes inside the left fender, just remove the fender liner and you can access it from there. if it snapped near the catch you need to remove the bumper and or grille
