This is a good sign that the power supply is having a problem. In standby or even on without a tape or disc, the current draw is low. Once a disc or tape is inserted there is a higher demand on the power supply. This is usually some defective capacitors that are easily replaced. Realize that there are other possibilities as well, but the power supply is the most common. The parts cost is in the $15 range.

SOURCE: I own a Panasonic RX-ES20

The tape speed in governed by the capstan and the pinch roller - a thin silver pin and a rubber wheel about 3/4" in diameter. If the tape is not caught between the two, it will run at about the speed of the reels - fast, Check that the pinch roller moves up to the capstan pin when you select play. If it does not, there may be some tape jamming it or the arm may be bent or dislodged.

Will it record on most cassette types

The difference between cassette types is the length of the tape and the quality of the tape. Your recorder will work on all types of cassettes.

My Panasonic RR-930 transcriber speeds up and slows down as I play back tapes. The problem seems to be with the machine itself and not the foot pedal or the tapes. Where do I start?

Start by cleaning the capstan roller. The rubber roller and small steel rod just above it, control the tape speed. Just a little lint, build up or animal hair wrapped around this can cause the speed to vary. Clean with alcohol and a Q-tip.

I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-ES30VEB could you please tell me if this will still be able to record if I buy a new Panasonic digital TV??

Yes, connect to AV2 and you can select the output for AV2 from the menu.
Most tv's send a selectable signal out through av2 but if you match to your Panasonic, you may find it will automatically set up with the dvd recorder(like Sony Smartlink)
You simply go into the menu, select the av2 output set up and pick what you want to record. I.E. dvt, av1 etc.

How do I tape to tape

you mean to record?first, you must connect the other unit (if you are using two cassette)by using rca plug or earphone plugs.insert the plugs to audio in or aux(this is the unit that will record).if the other unit doesn't have the output audio, use the earphone out instead.time to record.the recorder must be set to tape/aux,(if you are using a unit with radio setting).then, push the play and record button at the same time.don't forget to put in the blank tape ok.then push play to the unit that you want to be recorded.the square symbol is for stop.the arrows pointing left ,rewind.pointing right, forward.the big arrow pointing right is the play and the button next to it is the record button.
