SOURCE: Sears Craftsman Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model and a LiftMaster Chamberlain Professional Garage Door

Hello,

I had the same frustrating dilemma with my Craftsman LiftMaster garage door and Keypad, Model 139.53754-01 (dated 10/06; and has the # 315 MHz).

To resolve “the dilemma”, grab your keypad, climb up on a ladder to access the garage door opener’s motor unit. On the right side of the motor unit, remove the white plastic casing by pressing buttons on each side and pulling down. This will expose the programming area, and for our purposes, the “Learn” button.

1. On the motor unit, press and release the “Learn” button. The Learn indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds.

2. Within 30 seconds, enter a four digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice on the keypad. Then press and hold the ENTER button.

3. Release the ENTER button when the motor unit lights blink. The code has been “learned”/stored/activated.

Good Luck, and I Hope this Helps!
Gail
For possible future reference:

How to change an existing, known PIN
(Changing an existing PIN can be done with the wireless remote keypad, and does not require access of the motor unit.)

From the keypad:

1. Enter the four digits of the present PIN, then press and hold the # button. The opener light will blink twice. Release the # button.

2. Enter your new 4-digit PIN and press Enter. The motor unit lights will blink once when the PIN has been “learned”/stored/activated. Test by entering the new PIN, and pressing Enter.

SOURCE: door would not close all the way

DOES IT REVERSE OR STOPS BUT NOT TOUCHING THE FLOOR?

IF IT DOESN'T TOUCH THE FLOOR YOU EITHER NEED TO ADJUST THE DOWN TRAVEL OR LENGTHEN THE CONNECTING ARM.

IF IT REVERSES YOU NEED TO DETERMINE IF IT IS THE SENSITIVITY OR THE SAFETY EYES.

It's not a remote part that I replaced it's the plastic gear of the garage door on the ceiling of my garage. Now it does not work. Only goes up and down 2 feet when I press the wall button in my gara

Make sure you put the black cup back on the end of the motor shaft and that it is pressed all the way on. Make sure the RPM sensor is plugged in. If neither of these are the issue, then you probably did not have the motor shaft pushed all the way back when you tightened the coupler after replacing the worm gear. Loosen that coupler up and from the front of the motor (opposite end in which the coupler is on) push the shaft back as far as it will go. Hold it there while you tighten the coupler back up and then try it.

Hi. My garage door opener is having a problem closing. It goes about 1/2 way down then reverses to the open position. Its a chamberlain 1/2 hp heavy duty. Any suggestions?

Hi swilson.... on the motor you will find adjustment screws. One to adjust the up setting and one the down. Also one for the pressure setting. Usually when the door is behaving as yours is the pressure setting needs to be tightened a bit so that it does not reverse direction with the tiniest bit of resistence. Make small adjustments so that you do not end up with a door that is a safety hazard in that it will not reverse when it hits an obstacle. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

I changed the gears in my craftsman 1/2 hp , chain-driven garage door opener and now the door only goes up a few inches before it goes back down. Any ideas what to do next?

Garage door opener, how does T bar affix to motor assembly (chain drive), I took it apart 3 weeks ago to repair the worm drive, am missing cap for chain (not worried), and the T-bar doesn't seem to attach...

The t-bar has two holes in the end of the bar off set from each other. The chain must be slack to get to align up to the motor head. There are two holes in the top of the motor head, I believe they are 1/2 inch drive black tempered screws. If you lost these two bolts make sure the replacement ones are not too long and do not exceed 5/8" long and will have to have a lock nut on it. Then tension the chain and set limits. Thanks BB

My garage door opener doesnt close all the way.

The motor is probably either stalling because the door is too stiff, or you have a beam break detector that is being triggered when the door is halfway down.
